PERSONALITY: Despite the recent hardships that Veronica has faced, her character is as strong as ever, formulated by the solid foundation that her dear parents and brother provided her. On the surface, she can be quite catty (get it?) and stubborn. But she has oceans and oceans of love and passion inside of her, one just needs to slide past her caution and wariness. While many claim that being kidnapped and imprisoned would quickly kill any playfulness that one has. It may be the feline in her, and it may just by her obstinate will to continue on as she always has, but Veronica has a dry yet extremely charismatic humor about her. At rare times it can be annoying, but usually it is endearing and witty. She uses it as a sort of crutch, to make even the most dire of situations possible to overcome. And it has worked for her so far. Although her wisecracks are one of the more prominent of her features, Veronica is an extremely passionate and loyal person. She will throw fervor and her full heart into anything she sets her mind to, and she will go to any lengths to protect the ones who earn her love. Some may call it stubbornness (which she has quite a lot to spare), but others call it ardor. She is indeed quite spirited, most likely thanks to her beloved family. While Veronica can only be described as a vivacious woman, her parents taught her well. She is extremely cautious and analytical of new experiences, situations, and people. While she believes that everyone has an inherent goodness to them... she also knows that there are a few bad apples out there, and wariness could save her life. While she may warm up to people quickly, it can take quite some time for her to actually trust them, for them to earn the bottomless pit of devotion that she has to offer. And beneath it all, she still secretly finds pride in her father's pet name, "Ronnie." SECTION IV - SUBJECT BACKGROUND
SUBJECT HISTORY: Year 2284 - 2301: Veronica Macer was born in the charming town of Ravenna, Italy. She was actually one of a set with her twin brother Destin - but he's not who this file is about, is he? Veronica's family was unbroken and could possibly be used as the very definition of love. Ronaldo, a Latin chef traveling in the renowned world of cuisine, met the Italian surgeon, Celia, when a kitchen cook under his wing let a pan fire gain too much momentum. Their firm love and partnership gave Veronica the morals that she lives for. Growing up in Italy, Veronica's life was not privileged, but she was certainly well off due to her parents' positions. Her relationship with her brother did not want for anything, either; they were best friends from the moment they could crawl, with no arguments and very few small spats. Secondary school consisted of sports, high grades, and an infinite amount of friends. Year 2302: Unfortunately, at the age of 18 and her last year of high school. Her mother had come into contact with diseased blood during a shift. Despite the hospital's best efforts, Celia's health rapidly declined, and she passed away just weeks later. The inconsolable grief that Veronica felt at her mother's death is what triggered her first shift. With the help of her equally sorrowful father and brother, Veronica was able to keep her abilities hushed. It had only been two years since the public announcement of the Menagerie, and the Macer family knew what became of those who were revealed. Together, they mourned Celia Abatangelo-Macer and continued on with their lives. Ronaldo decided to retire, while both Veronica and Destin threw themselves into higher education at a renowned Italian academy. Year 2307: With a graduate's degree in historical studies, Veronica flourished in Rome, where she was employed by the Musei Vaticani, or the Vatican Museums. In the five years since her mother's death, she was able to channel the strength of her grief into various endeavors, including honing her shifting abilities and traveling the world in her spare time. She became a beautiful, successful young woman, one her mother would be proud of. Year 2308 (Present): Deciding to spend Christmas in the United States, Veronica and Destin brought their father to an impressive ski resort in snowy Vail, Colorado. Veronica was out at dusk one night after the ski lifts were closed, spending her energy traversing a few of the mountain runs in her feline form. Destin was at the resort's bar winding down for the day, and Ronaldo was in their suite cooking their late mother's favorite Italian meal. After her evening outing in the pristine snow and gentle flakes, Veronica would return "home" to masculine laughter, a warm fire, and the wondrous aromas that only her father could create. Instead, a net fell upon the caracal as she wandered down her last slope. In hindsight, Veronica would chastise herself for being in her shift form, even if it was in a mountainous area with no people around. The keepers swarmed her within seconds, shooting her tranquilizers - she counted six, before she passed out. She woke up in the labs as a naked, vulnerable human, with needles and other analytical machines attached to her in multitudes of places. Drugged, she could do nothing but move her gaze... and cry. She could only assume her father and brother had been taken into custody for aiding a shifter after her identity was revealed. Slipping in and out of consciousness, she found herself dropped into a snowy field days later. She was in the Menagerie. SECTION V - OOC INFORMATION
