SECTION II - PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES
SECTION III - Psychological Evaluation
PERSONALITY: Laria has been forced to adapt to many different situations in her life, giving her an almost subjective personality. She can be funny when needs be, vicious when the situation arises and on some rare occasions completely cold and detached, when she succumbs to the rage and frustration of being trapped in the Dome. Before entering the Menagerie, Laria was driven by her maternal instinct, and was caring, loving and kind-hearted, but since losing her family, she had put up a wall of coldness to prevent the pain of loss happening again. Whilst she attempted to remain indifferent, her true nature won out and she is besotted with the young Carna. Now fiercely protective and devoted to the Carna ring, this is one mama bear who's cubs you'd better leave alone. SECTION IV - SUBJECT BACKGROUND
SUBJECT HISTORY: Delaria was raised in the south east coast of Australia by her parents. Her mother was also a shifter, and trained Delaria in gaining control of and mastering her ability to shift once she first shifted, aged 5. Her mother understood the importance of their genes remaining undiscovered, and this natural caution was ingrained into her daughter as a result, as well as her natural confidence and outgoing nature. Her father was a more soft-spoken man, but despite being completely human, he spent his days researching the shifter-phenomenon, and did everything to protect these two women he loved immensely. When she was eleven, Delaria witnessed her mother being shot by a poacher whilst hunting as her sooty owl shift. She managed to locate her mother's body after hours of searching, to confirm her worst fears. Following her death, her father became completely shut off from Delaria, and the outside world. Her shift form- identical to her mother's- was a painful reminder of the love he'd lost, and he retreated into himself leaving Delaria, for the most part, alone. She grew up like this, taking care of her father and trying to coax him out of the depression he sank further and further in until one day, when she was 15, she returned to find him OD'd on sleeping pills, a picture of her mother in his hand. From then, she spent several months at a time as her owl shift, grateful for the ease of pain in her heart when she allowed her instincts to override her emotions, and as a way to escape her human life. Soaring in the sky made her finally feel free, and she felt connected to her mother once again, reminded of the blood that flowed in her veins. By the time she was 17, Delaria decided to move out from her isolate cabin, deep in the Bush, and moved to the outskirts of London. The buzz of the city was exhilarating but she soon became restless. She needed to fly, but the place was swarming with UNIT guards and informants. One night, walking back from her job at a late night coffee shop, Delaria saw a fox rummaging through an overturned rubbish bin, that instantaneously became a small, emaciated ginger boy of about nine. Delaria was flooded with relief and concern, recognising the boy as a fellow shifter, and approached him, asking whether he knew of any more like himself. He replied, "Andrew's the boss man, lady", before his eyes widened in horror as it dawned on him he probably shouldn't have said that to a complete stranger. Chuckling, Delaria quickly reassured him that she too was a shifter, and when he still looked dubious, she shifted into her Greater Sooty Owl form, and back. A wide grin lit up the child's face, and he introduced himself as Fisk, before explaining to her who exactly this 'boss man' was. Andrew Whitman was the head of an 'orphanage' for young shifters, abandoned by their parents once they discovered their child's 'condition', or orphaned, like Delaria. The entire organisation was run underground, in tunnels that used to be known as "the Tube" in the early 21st century, with easily 150 children in their care. The older shifters taught the youngest, or most inept, how to control their shifting, avoid raising suspicion and most importantly, evading UNIT capture. For Delaria, the appeal was huge; a large expanse of tracks to finally stretch her wings, a use for her skills, and a family. When she was first introduced to the Tube, she immediately fit in, her mother's training and father's research making her a valuable asset to the community, not to mention her powerful maternal need to protect, an instinct purely her own, not her shift's. By the time she was 22, Delaria was Andrew's second-in-command of the Tube, and his long-term girlfriend. Shortly after her arrival, her good reports had earnt her an audience with the leader, who was intrigued by this strange Aussie girl. It was her understated beauty and unwavering desire to help those in need that enchanted him, as it was rare to find anything other than pain and hurt, especially for shifters, in this world. Delaria was exceptional with the children, and they often talked about having their own someday, but it was not to be. That summer, the numbers in the orphanage began to wane, and children went missing- presumably captured, or even killed. Increasingly distressed, the pair decided to relocate and evacuate everyone, as their hideout must have been compromised. They managed to get all the remaining children out on the road to contacts in the countryside, bust as they were preparing to leave themselves, a UNIT squad came for them. Tears threatening to spill from her eyes, Delaria realised there was no escaping this. Her fight of flight mode kicked in (literally) and she considered shifting to fly to her escape through the tunnels, but she couldn't leave Andrew. His shift, an Iberian lynx, had no hope of navigating the dark, and she couldn't leave him. He gripped her hand in his, and they listened as they bust down the doors and defenses, approaching the room they were in. As the door was pushed open, Delaria steeled herself for the tranquilliser dart about it hit her, but it never came, as the guards wrenched Andrew from her grip and began mercilessly beating him with their batons, yelling obscenities she had never even heard before. She let out a blood-curdling scream and began to try to tear the thugs off him, to get them away from him, but she was restrained and forced to watch. To watch as Andrew struggled to concentrate enough to shift amongst the torrent of blows, and as he gave up and focused on scraping haggard, laboured breaths from his abused lungs. Finally, after how long she didn’t know, the sharp pain of a needle slid into her neck and just before the darkness took over she managed to take hold of Andrew’s hand once again. Delaria was kept in the holding cells for little under a year, following her arrival into the Menagerie. It wasn’t until her extreme and unrelenting anger during the beginning of her captivity finally dulled into a seemingly defeated spirit that the Keepers deemed her stable enough to participate in the experiment. Her anger never really subdued however, but she learnt to push her emotions so far down they were no longer visible. She would be damned if she was going to let the Keepers beat her at this game, and she couldn’t do much of anything inside a cell, could she? For a while Delaria wandered about the Menagerie, content to simply survive, until she stumbled upon Carna territory. One of the scout teams picked her up, and her honed skills and quick learning capacity saw her quickly adapt to becoming a scout herself, after officially becoming a member of Carna. The tight-knit community was one of her favourite aspects of Carna life, and when not busy patrolling, she trained the younger children in how to control their shifting- she was in her element. She was able to lose herself in the hunt as she had done after both her parents died, and secretly loved the sense of simplistic power and brutality of the Carna ring. ooc: I can change the reference to the London underground if it clashes with something or whatever, just lemme know! c: SECTION V - OOC INFORMATION
