There was something tickling at the back of his mind, telling him to wake up. He wasn't sure he wanted to wake up, in case (as cliche as it was) it had all been a dream. He kept his eyes shut tight against the light filtering through the shrouded window, hoping against hope that she was still there. He snuggled down deeper into the mattress, drawing in a deep breath. He became aware of her warmth first, then the gentle rise and fall of her chest as she breathed against him. He allowed himself to open one eye, stealing a sidelong peek at her as she slept.
He grinned and closed his eyes again, hesitant to wake her. She might rethink everything they'd said and want to make her way to Splitsville instead. He was still smiling in spite of himself and let out a soft laugh as he glanced down at his chest where there hands were still clasped and...handcuffed. He'd forgotten about that little detail during the night.Desidero fought off the nagging voice that told him that being chained to him was the only reason she hadn't made a head-long ass haul through the door; with a reluctant sigh he turned on his side so he was facing her and tendered a few soft kisses to her forehead, mumbling a muted "Morning." He smiled and kissed her again, lingering for a moment before pulling back. He lifted their cuffed hands slightly and gave the chain a shake, facing her with a sheepish grin. "Ready to get these off?" he said, stretching a leg over her to get off the bed. He stopped mid-straddle for a second and grinned down at her. "Shame, though. Coulda had a lot more fun with these babies," he said with a snort of laughter before bringing his other leg over and stepping off the bed. He dodged a well-aimed swipe from Quinn and drew her in for a quick peck on the cheek before searching the room for his shoes, preparing for the trek ahead of them.
A few minutes later and they were headed towards Studio Ess where Quinn'd stashed the key. He was plodding along at a leisurely pace, hand wrapped around hers and completely at ease. Life seemed to be going his way for once, and he was damn chipper about it. He didn't like the thought that they were headed towards the only place that could remove the one barrier really keeping Quinn at his side, but hey. Not like they could stay chained up together forever. Even he wasn't that stupid. "So how long you been stayin' at the Studio?"
She could not remember the last time that she had felt safe enough to sleep for longer than an hour. Her hair was a mess as it obscured her face, her breath causing a few of the strands to vibrate with its soft release. Her lip twitched, and brought her free hand up to brush the tickling hairs away. Her hand lingered up in her hair to touch her ears, as though making sure that they were still there…that she was still a freak. She rolled closer to the warmth, pinning her extended arm under her head. She was glad for the warmth here, a soft heat that wasn't overbearing or stuffy; it was just…nice. She did not want to wake up just yet, not when reality was always so much worse than dreaming. She had always dreaded getting up for school as a kid, even when she knew that she was going to skip rather than sit through history class again. Mornings were not her type of deal.
Her ears twitched as a sound reached them, unfamiliar and familiar as it were. Her eyes opened in a squint, looking around in the fuzziness of first vision. The warmth moved, warm lips pressing to her forehead in a few places before she heard his voice. Desi. She thought, and for once it didn’t send her up in arms and trying to get away. They had come to an understanding, and she was going to revel in it. The lips moved to hers, soft and sweet to start off her morning and she felt her tail move, giving the mattress a few happy little thumps. “Morning... breath.” She said, her tone gruff but merely teasing him. Her arm that was on him, their hands clasped together all through the night it appeared, seemed to levitate in the air her wrist caught by something. Handcuffs…Right. She had forgotten about that until he had mentioned it.
Quinn rolled on to her back as he moved, coming to straddle her in an attempt to get out of bed. She tensed for a brief moment, a sick feeling in her gut…a left over reaction from her days at home with dear old daddy. This was Desi though…he wouldn't hurt her, especially not with that goofy ass grin on his face. She reached up her free hand to swat at him, missing by inches as he got to the floor. “I should let you drag me around dead weight style, a--hole.” She said grumpily, even as he ducked in for a kiss. She sat up, tethered by the short cuff chain, and put her feet to the floor. The train car groaned in protest just like she wanted to.
A few minutes later, they were on their way and headed toward Quinn’s stomping grounds near the Studio. She had been living there on and off, using it as sort of a home base if she needed to get out the elements. She’d made quite the go of it as a rogue for the last stretch of time of her life, affiliating with this or that group until it did not serve her purpose anymore and then getting the hell out of it. She tried not to make enemies, but with tensions running as high as they did in the dome…well, she’d made her fair share. There were people that she outright knew to avoid, whether they were her personal enemies or simply just a local asshole. The rings were probably the toughest opponents using rogues as target practice so they didn’t accidentally start a dome-wide war.
She walked with him, her boot knife in her jacket pocket as it was one of the only means of protection she had. Most of her stuff had been stashed back at the Studio, because she had known she was gonna drink at the Speakeasy. There were some that took easy pickins on the drunk and unaware; so she’d left her goods safely tucked away. “Well…” She said thoughtfully, considering his question.“I use it just for emergencies, really. Tuck stuff away, or meet up with friends.” She shrugged. “Not that I got many friends, but sometimes I got one or two that likes to check in on me. Convert me back to ring life.” The red head met his eye for a moment, with a little smile. She had not really ever expected to want to go back to a ring, especially not the Fallen. “So when did you take up living at my house?” She asked, raising an eyebrow mischievously. “You owe me some rent, or something I’m sure.”
