PERSONALITY: Glee is, to no one's surprise, refreshingly sweet. She adores affection and will go out of her way to make friends with anyone who shows her an ounce of compassion. She'll latch on to just anyone as sort of a coping technique, but is almost always ready for the heartbreak that follows. Her trust has been broken a million times, but she hopes, perhaps, that she can keep a friend for just a moment longer. She longs for deep, emotional relationships with just about anyone, perhaps coming on a bit strong by accident: she is just a child, even now. To a stranger, Glee often comes off as incredibly shy and reluctant to open up. She is almost always more curious than timid, however, and sometimes will face her fears just to learn a bit more about someone she's never met before. Faced with violence or anger, she will flee if she can, or cower and beg for mercy if she cannot. She is not a fighter, not yet. Faced with the choice to hurt someone who has hurt her with no repercussions, she always chooses mercy and forgiveness, even to the worst of people. In large groups, or when put in a situation where she has no choice but to be among people she doesn't know, she seems incredibly uncomfortable, often shying to the edge of a space instead of gravitating towards it. If she has someone she knows with her, she will cling to their side as long as she can manage, but likely will break off and retreat to a corner if kept around others for too long. While she adores the attention of an individual, she has a hard time handling the energy that a gathering gives off. However, by instinct, she is fond of the idea of a large family. In practice, it doesn't seem to work out so well. It's fairly simple to come to understand the young girl, although to feel compassion or sympathy is a bit harder. She comes off as incredibly naive and all the more easy to mistreat and misuse-- but almost in spite of this she seems to actually know her own flaws in this regard. Despite wanting to toughen up and change, to survive, she seems to fail every attempt she makes at changing her core character. She is gentle, soft, even after all that has been done to her. A quiet coward, one who should have never survived this long. SECTION IV - SUBJECT BACKGROUND
SUBJECT HISTORY: 2292: Alyssa grew up in Utica, a bustling city too cramped and outweighed by New York City to ever become something more. She learned she was a shifter at a young age and did her best to hide it, but soon found it was too hard of a secret to keep from her boyfriend and father of her child. She promptly fled to Sidney before anything horrible could come of their breakup. A small town that had survived the years of growth and technology, it was seemingly the perfect place to raise a family, even for a single mother. There was a hope alive in her, that perhaps her child would be born a normal kid, one without the curse that seemed to ruin her entire life. 2295: Unfortunately, things wouldn't be that simple. Indeed, soon word spread about Shifters and she knew that eventually she would be caught. Fearful, Alyssa gave up her child to foster care, hoping that Niobe would be lost to paperwork and find a happy family. Verena, however, spent plenty of years in foster care and never did find a family. After all, just about anyone could safely have a child of their own, and hardly wanted a potentially imperfect reject. Worse, after the scare over shapeshifters, Verena had a time limit on how long she would be free, before she was caught. The child made many a friend-- though foster care split her up from anyone she cared about time and time again-- and hardly seemed to realize the threat dangling over her head. No, her biggest worry was the miserable hole in her heart left by her mother. 2300: One day, Verena got into a surprising, sudden fight with her newest friend. The boy was new to the foster care system, and in fact, was a shapeshifter himself. He screamed at her over something small, before changing into a massive gorilla. Poor Verena screamed and tried to run away, but to the caretakers, she seemed to have caught the newest boy's disease-- she too, abruptly, changed. Painfully so, shrinking into nothing more than a tiny little marsupial. She tried to run, fly away, but she was trapped in the room with the other child for hours until UNIT came to take them both away. The orphanage was quite happy to have the dangerous monsters taken away for a bit of cash. 2303: Verena is ten. She tries to stay optimistic, taking on the name Glee, her old name nearly forgotten past her documentation. The tests that she enjoyed as a young child have become harder, more painful. She still hates shifting-- it hurts, she tells the Keepers. She doesn't want to shift anymore. To her surprise, they have a way to fix her. In fact, they seem all too eager to experiment on her. The Keepers aren't so bad. Glee is different now, though she doesn't understand why. She feel stuck, in a constant state of pain, but she is stronger now. Although she is still quite young, she is deemed fit enough to face the Menagerie. 2304: Glee quickly learns that no one wants to be her friend, that she is a monster, that she cannot even fit it with the other shifters. Not a moment too soon, either, with the outbreak of Viruses. The girl avoids others, hiding in trees, becoming incredibly animalistic in behavior. Due to her sugar glider diet, she managed to stay alive without anything but rainwater, though the winters were harsh, she managed to survive through extended periods of torpor. 2307: Glee hears a rumor on the wind. The largest group of Anthromorphs are rising again. Though she is fearful, most seem to be friendly to the child as she tries to get by. The rest she flees from. She almost makes a few friends, but something, perhaps instinct, pushes her on. She has to find them-- her own kind. (Leaving some gaps for possible history mingling with others, if people wish. As an aside, she will be joining Nakoma, I'd just like to roleplay that out, first!) SECTION V - OOC INFORMATION
