Let me preface this by saying: bear with me. I know this is going to be a lot to take in, but just try to let it soak in and imagine all the possibilities. B] Jot down your questions as you go if you wanna so you can ask 'em if you have any!! I know this is as long as an aardvark's snoot, but I wore my fingies to the phalanges typing it so ... pls do it for mo, clarence, BE STRONG FOR MO
K SO this is an idea I’ve wanted to do for years it's been 84 yeaaaars but never really saw a need to do on such a large scale. I mean, we've been heading towards it for a long while with having the Retro groups and Custom Rogue Groups. However, since activity has been on the decline for a while now ‘cause life and junk, I thought it was a good time to finally bring it to light. Also, Noxx was totally against this for a long time but I converted her and she loves the idea now. SO YOU KNOW IT’S GON’ BE GOOD.
follow this fellow, grab a chair and GET READY FOR THE READ OF YOUR LIFE, SONNY.
Essentially, we are planning for there to be a dome-wide disaster caused by the Keepers, flush with earthquakes, tsunami, probably a volcano somewhere … Here, let’s throw in a tornado while we’re at it! The landscape of the dome will be changed (in certain areas) somewhat dramatically.
And with this dome-wide destruction would come, stick with me here, a breaking up of the Rings. Tons of Ringmembers will be dead (SAAD), lots of people get separated into small groups trying to find safe ground, maybe some were in the labs, or out patrolling or in a hunting party and get stranded. A lot of landmarkers will be gone, or the terrain completely different and sometimes impassible (depending on your shift), making it difficult to reunite with Rings.
This will essentially allow a bunch of smaller, member-formed groups to take over. While the Ring system has worked well for us in the past, I feel we’re ready to kinda expand beyond it. And in all honesty, it will be similar to having Rings, but with tons more options and freedom for individuals. B] The structure is similar to our current Custom Rogue Groups, except group creation is FREE and there is no member limit! You must have at least 2 people to start a group, Founders.
Do what you feel. Smaller groups can allow for tons more personalization. You can choose to be a leader, a follower, a rogue, or a hermit who lives in a dumpster and shouts at rats, even. Claim a preset territory, create your own custom board (1 main board, 2 subs, reduced prices yay) or be a nomadic group. It's up to you! This allows a plethora of members to be in a leadership or decision-and-plot-making position, instead of just having a few people in charge of moving the site forward. Or not! You can be chill as you like. You can have ranks, or choose to be a loosely structured group. You can choose to make a Recruitment thread in the Side Plots board to encourage people to join your group, or we may even make a separate board for Group Recruitment if we wanna!
Be spontaneous. Now anyone can make a big move! Be bold! be daring! Anyone can cause chaos. You get to decide if your neighbors are friend or foe. Like with Rings, you and your group can make alliances, break alliances, raid, compete for resources, maybe even merge groups (gasp) for a larger territory and, who knows, maybe rival the strength of the old Rings! Hey, maybe your Ringleaders are gathering a huge group to rekindle their old days as leader with a new coat of paint.
Never fear. This can affect your plots as much or as little as you like. All things are still possible, if you just believe! There will always be characters who can be your character's enemy. There can be loyalists who still hold tight to their Ring and see the small groups as enemies. You can form new friendships or rivalries, nemeses, whatever you'd like with groups near your group (or even far!) Was your character torn between loyalty to a group and being with a loved one? That's still a viable plot! You can make up NPCs like we do now, have the boos join different groups, anything you want!
Feel the love. No more joining restrictions unless you want them! An Anthro sleeping next to ex-Carna? An ex-Fulsi partying with an ex-Fallen?! *puts on Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella voice* It’s poooooossible! Like the Custom Rogue Groups we have now, you can customize the joining rules for your group. Maybe your character still wants to hold onto the old way of life: Maybe they’re a Carna who doesn’t trust anyone but their old ringmates, and wants to try to rebuild the Carna. Maybe they’re a Retro who only wants other Retros and is scared of Shifters. Or maybe they welcome everyone! SQUAD GOALS.
Embrace the feels. Have tons of fun exploring the depths of loneliness with a character separated from their friends and family all over again!! Deal with struggles of upheaval and loss, the now even more difficult task of surviving in treacherous environs filled with (you guessed it) MORE VIRUSES. Oh, speaking of, your Viruses can even make a group! INFECT OR DEFECT, SUCKAS.
Get down to brass tacks Enough with the sales pitch! Now we get to the structural nitty-gritty, the business end of this biz. Yep. Board and group organization. -collective butt clenching, am I right?-
All righty, so instead of the Ring territories, No Man's Land and the Retro territories belonging to just one Ring or group, they are now broken up amongst the smaller groups and will be classed as Regions. The Regions will be named after whatever group held power there before. E.g. Carna Waterfront, The Fulsi Heights, The Fallen Dunes, as a sort of homage to the past, but the Rings do not hold any power there any longer.
The Region will determine the name color of your group, so all groups within a certain region will have the same name color. E.g. All groups within the Waterfront Region will have the Carna red name, and all groups in the Heights Region will have the blue, etc. Instead of RING RANK, your mini-profile will read: REGION NAME GROUP NAME. So your Carna Scout would now be a Waterfront Asskickers, or the Heights Hustlers or Dunes Pantyraiders, District Sluggers, etc.
No Man's Land is being collectively relabled as "The Greylands," So your region name would be Greylands, like Greylands Falcon Punchers, etc. Retro areas are being relabled as "The Wildlands," Wildlands Wild Bros, etc.
If you choose to make a Nomadic group, which is essentially a group that does not have territory in a Region, your Region name instead will be Nomadic Hornswogglers or something along those lines.
You can also live in any of these Regions as Rogue with no group, but your mini profile will have either a Region name or a Nomadic designation, e.g Waterfront Rogue, Nomadic Rogue. Rogues cannot hold a large territory; the most territory a Rogue can occupy by themselves is a single board of a small room or a building, cave, etc. and it must be purchased.
There will be multiple claimable “preset” territories in each Region. These “preset” territories are free, but custom boards will have a CP charge. Once a territory is claimed, it cannot be challenged for or stolen (unless you want it to happen via plot, again, DO WHAT YOU FEEEL).
Once you have plotted with peeps and have at least 2 members, to create a group and claim a territory, all you have to do is fill out a form and post in the Info Update thread (we will be retrofitting the Custom Rogue Group form). Groups are not required to have a “Leader” in character, but must have at least one person OOC who is in charge of accepting members and board moderation if applicable. You can choose to be in charge of accepting or denying members into your group, or choose to let the staff do it. Either way, an Info Update post will be needed so we can update the accounts if necessary & the Member & Character directory.
If you decide you want to move territories or stuff like that, it’s as easy as an info update. All the groups available to join will be posted in the Social Groups thread, potentially moved to the Directories board ... (still working kinks out, obviously!) There you can list your group name, the founders, the members (if you want), a small group description, and the joining rules or recruitment thread link for other members to peruse when trying to find a group to join! So you don't have to click away from the thread, this is an example of what it looks like (this is currently in the Social Groups thread under the Rogue Groups tab):
If you want to have a more detailed thread for your group's information, like ranks, etc, you can post them in your group territory board and just include the link in the Social Group post.
You wanna be on TOP!?! (it tyra from America Next Top Model)
With this small group system, we will be introducing a hybrid IC and OOC point system that outlines the resources of your group and allows you and your characters to actually work toward a more comfortable survival. These are the real struggles they face, and can give you something of a tangible, realistic, and much more personalized challenges for your characters to overcome and work toward actually achieving goals of survival with their threads.
You can take this to heart as much or as little as you want, but we think it would be a hella fresh way to integrate threading and in character consequences. It can affect your character’s daily life, maybe their mood, their energy, even their actions and potentially life-changing decisions.
Loosely termed “Thrive Points” or survival points (WIP), these points will reflect the overall stats and well-being of your group based on their accumulated resources. Note: Rogues are not eligible for these points. The Thrive Points fall into five Basic Needs categories: Food, Water, Medical Supplies, Defense and Morale. Thrive Points will be on a scale from 0 to 100, 0 being scarce and 100 being bountiful.
I know this seems like a lot to take in, but the updating process will be easy and entirely up to you how much you want to participate.
Everything will be updated through the Info Update thread. Staff will likely be using a Google Drive spreadsheet to keep track of all the numbers.
When you make a group, you get to pick which two resources are plentiful in your group, called Prime Resources. Regions will come with certain Thrive Point boosts or detriments based on the overall landscape. E.g. the Waterfront could have a boost of defense (places to hide) and food (easy access to fishing, etc), Dunes might have a detriment of -5 for water ‘cause desert.
Each group will start off with a base of 15 points for each Basic Need category. From there, the boosts or detriments will be added/subtracted depending on what your group choice and region resources are plentiful or lacking in.
At the end of the year, COME THE GOLDEN BADGER AWARDSSS whichever group has the highest total of Thrive Points gets Group of the Year mini pixel and some super sweet dealios ok ok. ok.
Ya win some, Ya lose some Earn points by participating in alliances or raids. Alliances get a one-time boost of +5 TP for all Basic Needs, with an extra +2 to their Prime Resources for each side of the alliance. Alliances can be achieved through threads or simply posting in the Info Update thread.
Raids must be played out in a completed thread (at least 5 posts) and must be mutually agreed upon, so no attacking groups you haven’t planned a raid with. Raiding parties can split up 10 points among the resources they’re raiding for (eg. +5 Food, +5 med supplies, alternately +10 med supplies). Raided groups get an automatic boost of +5 defense with a detriment of -5 to morale.
- Boost of +1 to every Basic Need category for every new member in your group.
- Homesteading: This is an open event that can be completed three times monthly where your characters can essentially thread to increase resources for their group. Get 5 points for whichever resource you’re choosing to increase. Exploring your territory or neutral boards can find you a lot of these things, for example, searching ruins or buildings can get medical supplies, going hunting gets the noms, your characters having an exceptionally good day can boost morale, etc. Get creative with how you can do these things. You can do a max of three Homesteading threads a month, must be posted in the Info Update.
- Some site-wide events already in place can give Thrive points, such as participating in the Rat Races (Morale!) and in-character events like Bobbing for Apples, etc. These will be expanded upon as we integrate the Points more.
- Lose points from adverse weather or Keeper interference (may affect whole site, or just a few regions, etc). For each hit you take to any of the Basic Needs, you automatically lose -1 morale. Example, there’s a blizzard so everyone has a loss of -5 Food and -1 morale. Vice versa, if you find food, you’d get +1 morale.
- Bonus! There will be an open-ended event where you can design your group a SYMBOL! You will get a permanent boost of +15 morale points (basically your morale can never get under 15 lol) The real prize is the symbol! Because yea group pride, and also guess what that means? People can make you SWAAAG! Just imagine it, pixels or banners for your signatures based on your group symbol, I can even code it so you could easily put your group symbol on your mini profile (as long as it’s 50x50 or something) … YEAH, SWAG!
In conclusion, I AM PROFRESSTOR MO ahaha no ... so basically we’re looking to start integrating this within the next few months. There’s obviously still a puddin' ton of work to be done, board revamps, image hunts, tons of fine-tuning for forms and creation of new systems and ... tons of FUN!!
Now, you don't have to rush into anything plot-wise or group-wise. Take your time and think, and don't get overwhelmed. We won't rush you into making any decisions quickly. That's why we're announcing it early, to give you guys time to adjust and make plots. You can start now if you want and get throw your characters together for groups, think of names, or simply wait until the boards are up and ready and maybe some other groups are open and feel out the new turf. You don't really have to worry about updating apps or anything either. For new members who join after the changes have been made, the apps format will be updated to the option of joining as a Rogue or with a group.
We will fill you in on details as we go, but we are hoping for your support. And hopefully you guys are as excited as we are to get these changes in motion. After 8 years, I feel a lot of sites would just give up when things get stagnant. But it’s no, nay, never, not I! On top of our Contracted plots, we’re hoping to foster muse, excitement and a continued community that is, like the universe, infinite and ever expanding.

So first of all IT TRUE I was totally against this idea at first; I was clinging to the old ways, loving the structure of the Rings. I mean… they were like the whole structure of the site, right?! WRONG It the CHARACTERS that make this site! Like yeah, it was nice to have a simple outline of where your character might fit, but there can be other social structures with more freedom this way. LIKE SO MANY CHOICES.
I’m super excited for the (hopefully) influx of custom boards; it’s going to expand the world and possibilities tenfold and I can’t wait to see what people come up with. PLUS there’s just like something so warm and fuzzy about having YOUR territory omg. Like Havenwood is my fave place in the M right now, not even gonna lie. :’D Everyone’s new territory can be their new fave place! And who knows what cool landscapes there will be to work with after the disaster?!
Also all the cool names that will be floating around in mini profiles~ AND SYMBOLS?! PLEASE everyone make symbols, I will make u swag. LASER CUT SWAG. Too hype.
I’m also super excited for the point system. I love that you can be as invested in it as you want. Like if your group is not super competitive/ they’re really chill THAT’S COOL. If you don’t even care about supplies and just want 100% morale for your little sunshines, I LOVE IT. (lmao tho how can u be happy in the dome THAT’S NOT WHAT WE’RE HERE FOR >:] )
It’s definitely a lot of change and a lot to take in, but I definitely think it’s for the best. It’s time to FRESHEN THINGS UP YEAHH. Like with breaking into small groups and the contracted plot, there are endless possibilities for all the chars! Like I can’t even be mad about losing ‘leader’ or high position chars.. they can live they lifes. They could amass a following wHO KNOW.
Just ver hype ok. I want all my babies to be happy so I can make them suffer more. :3
I'm absolutely so excited for this and hope it happens as soon as possible. Love the idea that there are no restrictions on who my characters can socialize with nor pick a ring loosely based on their personalities. Any characters I love to play together can now be in their own little group together which I can't wait to roleplay out. Obviously the characters won't be stuck with everyone all the time so if I want to have my character explore out I can freely do so.
More Viruses the better. Now anywhere my character goes can be spooky scary. One of my favorite parts in this is the terrain change. So many new boards will allow my plots to expand out farther since not only will the Shifters be battling each other, but they will also be battling the change of their surroundings.

I actually REALLY like this idea. And I can't really speak for anyone else, but I can certainly tell you this is getting my muse juices flowing again (that phrase sounded less dirty in my mind. XP).
Sounds like there's a lot of work ahead of you guys, but it also sounds like it'll be well worth the effort.
If I may interject with a suggestion, though? Seems like your earthquake example would be the best choice for changing the geography of the M, as very few other natural disasters will really change the landscape long term. Hell, there could even be a huge crack in the ground that opens up and just stays there to help further separate the remnants of the Rings. That's just my vote though, if it even counts for anything. XD

YAAAAAAAAS see you get it, you get it B] We were thinking of doing something along those lines!! Hope you can fly ahaha ... or learn how to build a rickety-ass rope bridge LOL It would definitely help separate the remnants of the Rings, like you said, and make it more difficult for people to get reunited 'cause you gotta find a way around the crack! B] Most excellent. The tsunami is mostly for to wreck the Carna (and also to simulate the real-life correlation between quakes and tsunamis). We made the joke that all of this was caused by a new Keeper just trying to change his password. "HOW'D HE GET THAT KIND OF CLEARANCE?! IDK LArAMY SET UP HIS ACCOUNT WRONG"
ALSO because I'm excited and want to tell all the things right now apparently, there will probably be a creepy virus-infested kind of semi-toxic wasteland from nasty fumaroles around the (surprise) volcanic mountains and junk where the Viruses and creepy things roam. We have something new and creepy planned for the Viruses to make some NPC danger for people. WOO!

Lol your excitement is infectious, Mo. xD
If there's any way I can help out with this new stuff (maybe helping figure out how to work the resource points system or something) just let me know. I'm more than happy to help. I've got more than enough time on my hands to do it right now, what with the wife bein 4 hours away right now. lol

At first I was like "no Rings like whaaaat nuuuuuu" but then I was like "okay fair deals this sounds kinda hella cool"
It's sounding very Dungeons and Dragons with the Thrive Points and shiz which is kinda cool. But I like that you can be into it or not so into it and just live your life how you wanna live it.
Also smaller groups would probably be easier to organise, and I think in a real dystopic society, they would be more manageable and more likely to appear than large groups. Coz yeah, not everyone fits into the loose personality types of each of the rings.
Ace will defs feel sad coz he was hecka loyal to Fulsipoos but totes considering making him a travelling doctor for funsies and to help peeps. Idk how all my charas will fit in, so I'm glad you've given us heads up quite early on so I have time to think through it all, since I did have Ring based plots planned that weren't really played out much (although Seph finding out about Soren's Carna times could still work idk)... SOOOO yeah, thanks for not like springing this on me (my life motto is basically #NoChange so the fact I'm into this is kinda a big deal though it does slightly terrify me)
I also have been worried about the retro groups for a while since they don't get much love, and I'm pretty sure you mentioned to me you've been thinking of ditching them for a while. So I'm glad you didn't just ditch them and head off, but this actually gives retros the opportunity for some mingling as well since a lot tend to stick to themselves (and there's not many of them anyway).
VIRUSES YES YES YES. Klaus is READY TO INFECT Y'ALL. I like this. 100% yes to more virus love. I'm intrigued to see how you bring NPC viruses into it to make the Dome even more threatening.
Alsoooo with all the new regions and stuff are gonna be able to get some sort of map? I like being able to see where everything fits in and stuff so even just a basic map with base regions would be good. Also any estimates on monetary costs for custom boards or will it remain the same as what it is now? I was thinking you could even start giving out a custom board as like one of the prizes in random events and stuff? Unless they're not hella $$$ coz then it'd be fine. But if newer members wanna create a custom board it'll be harder from them if it costs a lot and that might be a slight deterrent? Idk. Just rambling here.
I think that's pretty much it from me. If I think of more I'll post again or send Momo a PM or something. Buuuut, also, if you do want any help with anything, I've got 5 months off from uni so I'm free as a bird and happy to help!
P.S. THIS IS TOTALLY AWESOME ILY GUYS
ace - asher - valeria - aiden - duke - soren - ebony - klaus - queenie - phoenix
I really, absolutely, desperately need to be studying right now but I just wanted to take a moment to say this is awesome and to anyone that has Fulsi chars that 'need a home' so to speak, you can always stick them with Charm. I don't know yet what my own plans are for this whole shindig, but Charm would never turn away one of her ringmates. So there's always that!
I gotta run, but will be back around sometime this weekend!
I honestly think the idea of disbanding the Rings and throwing the entire M into a sort of "revamp" would be really, really interesting and good for the site and would allow for a lot more different characterization. I've noticed the Rings kind of entice people into stereotyping characters, and... a lack of Rings would force people to be more creative, a more member-driven plot. SO YES KRISS APPROVES.
Although I am like Rumor and should be studying, but whatevs.
Could I also hint-hint nudge-nudge toward a frigid wasteland? Like this barren, cold place. Because Kriss likes cold places for settings. But anyways. I have mucho ideas for this. JUST NEED MORE TIME D8
I am so up for this, reshuffling all my comfortable little babies into different groups *sniff*. I think it will be really interesting to see which characters band together, what sort of alliances we see in a much more uncertain world.
I agree that it will probably be a lot easier to organise group things this way, smaller groups of shifters will be a lot easier to manage and keep track of. I'd imagine things will shift a lot more to, as groups rise and fall and our poor little characters are left scrambling. So many evil ideas forming, mwu hahahaha!

Had another idea, Mo. If you guys are going with the earthquake idea, you're likely gonna need the epicenter of the quake to be in Fallen teritory (and thus be the "origin" point of the fissure). Reason for this is cause both Carna and Fulsi territory have more (and larger) buildings than Fallen territory does (plus carna also has the issues of the water to deal with too). Basically, if the quake's epicenter isn't in fallen territory, it'll likely have little to no impact on them, and definitely wouldn't be devastating enough to them for it to cause them to break up and scatter.
Just a thought I had. figured I'd throw it out there.

Ahh, this is long overdue for which I apologize [life, u suck]. However I just wanted to briefly pop in and add my two cents - most everyone has touched on my thoughts in regards to this new plot; that is, to say, I am hella excited for it and I think that it'll generate a lot of muse/plots for old and new players alike! I was a little bit hesitant at first because I'm quite attached to all the rings but it's definitely for the better (for us, at least, maybe not for the characters LOL. Cue more emotional scarring 4lyfe) in the long run and I've already been getting lots of ideas for my chars :3
Also, as a sidenote I'd just like to say to Mou and Noxx: thank you. Thank you for sticking with this site and keeping it going even when the activity has lagged. Having a site like this for eight years is a huge feat and I applaud all of your efforts. I know you're just as busy with life as the rest of us are and appreciate everything you've done for the site and its members. You guys are awesome.
AHHHHHHH I love you all ;3; thank you somuch for all the feedback -flails- I am planning on sitting down and replying to this thread in detail tonight (been a little aslkjfgdlfj because of work) but I'm working on the map laying out where the new boards are gonna go and some rough descriptions for y'all so you can start planning.
Also I just wanted to note that if you're worried about not getting to a certain plot involved with the Rings, we always have our "Memories" board where you can play it out whenever you'd like ! >DD
Cool beans! I agree things needed shaking up, and it had gotten to a point that characters were limited based on Rings in a large way. A little complicated with some of the new stuff but once its integrated I'm sure it will smooth out.
*thumbs up* I know I have characters that have been caged by the demands of Alphas and Rings, and those who have loved ones outside of their own rings - this will do well for them. Especially with the Rings themselves, they came to a point that THEY were inflexible even by new Alphas based on preconceived guidelines from their predecessors. 83
This in addition to the 'outside the M' thing will be interesting good stuff. <3
Just wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year from us here at the Menagerie. Here's to many, many more here on the M! With the new year we are expecting a lot of changes, from the Contracted plots to the dome-wide disasters. I just wanted to let you know that the staff and I are indeed working away to get the changes instituted as quickly as possible, but with the holidays and work it's been a bit slow-going.
The map image is completed, and I will be releasing it as soon as I can color-code and label the new territories and how they will be divided. With the new map, I am hoping that the terrain will look much more detailed and realistic and give a more grounded sense of the dome. And with the map release, hopefully yous guys can begin plotting with more detail what will happen to your characters after the disasters.
And possibly most exciting of all, come February 21st we will officially be 8 years old! I still can't believe we've come this far and continue to go strong, albeit with some natural wavers in activity as life demands responsibilities from us all. Thank you all for sticking with me for all these years, staff and members alike. I know we're just a roleplay site, but I love and appreciate every single one of you and the life and creativity you bring to the site. It means the world to me that something I created as a side project almost 8 years ago would still be here thanks to you guys. The Menagerie simply wouldn't be here without you all. Your creativity and dedication and willingness to participate in craziness is what keeps me going as an admin and ILU ALL OK OK
In honor of the New Year and the possible resolutions we all may have, we'll be hosting an event where you can post your New Year's Resolutions for real life and maybe resolutions for here on The M (aka stuff you want for your characters LOL) and we'll make it happen. Since we were unable to do "Letters to the North Pole" this year, this is our way of giving back to all you boos.
Sorry this got kinda long XD
TL;DR version - Happy New Year! Site changes still in progress! Map going to be released soon! Eight-year anniversary on Feb 21st! Feelings and junk ILU ALL! New Year's Resolutions and presents! YAY!
This is the map for what the dome will be like after the disasters hit. Hopefully it will help you visualize your characters in their new environs and groups. It's a lot different than the old map so prepare your eyeballs ok ok
Click this link to view the map. If you hover it will highlight the Regions. If you click the image itself, it will open into the full size image (PLS DO FULL SIZE). Just please note that the map isn't exactly to scale, e.g. there are more buildings in the Greylands and along the Waterfront, etc. The map is just to sort of give a more grounded feel of what the terrain is like rather than EXACT specific images of the buildings and all that jazz.
SO HERES A REALLY QUICK RUNDOWN OF STUFF Most noticeably there's a big ol' crack separating a lot of the Regions. The Fulsi gets wrecked with a big ol' canyon in the middle of Gospel Complex. If you can't fly, there's only one way outta the Fulsi: Salvation Mile (aka the Stab 'n Grab ) an old highway that is replete with ne'er-do-wells and thievers. Salvation leads into the Blind Man's Stretch, a sandstorm-ridden stretch of desert that used to be the Fallen train station. A city once buried in the sand has been uncovered by sandstorms. Oases have popped up all over the place, but some are toxic so watch where you sip those straws.
The Nakoma is a friggin' TUNDRA and there are probably yetis or some shit. Don't ask where the mountains came from because no one knows, tectonic plates colliding or something.
Blackwater Sound in the Carna has all but dried up (watah, need some watah!!) and the tunnels is flooded. Cool once-under water rock formations and shipwrecks and shiggity-shweet stuff like that. The Nakoma River has redirected to flow really slowly/lightly into the Carna & the bay is now the Blackwater Delta. Over time, grass and life will start to grow but it gon' take a while.
one of the mountains in the citadel mountain range was actually a VOLCANO so it explurded and via pyroclastic flows, lava and fumaroles (big cracks which leak stanky toxic fumes) the only real path into/out of the Wildlands, again short of flying, is through the toxic stankland that is the Howling Wastes. Viruses flock here as they are immune to all the gross stuff and have a hive somewhere and they're doing their own weird experiments on Shifters they capture. It's dangerous and there's lots of skeletons and dead stuff. Yay.
The Nilda lake flooooded and so now it's a giant lake with an underwater forest (making it dangerous to navigate via boat if you have one) with an island that was once a hill. The rest of the wildlands are kinda the same right now until we think of something mean.
There's obviously a ton of details to add and we will be creating much more terrain-specific territories for groups to claim but this is just the broad strokes for y'alls.
hope you enjoy it and like the look of the new map!
I love this map, and I have a sudden urge for one of my Carna to take over a shipwreck and declare themselves captain. Probably James because that seems like something he'd do, make anyone who joined him talk like a pirate for giggles, run up a Jolly Roger with a tiger head, teach Trouble to ride on his shoulder like a particularly furry parot.
Long story short there's some potential for wicked awesome bases here.
