_______________________________________________
Your character stumbles upon three paths. The keepers are testing their intuition. Ahead lies one dangerous path and two safe paths, but it’s not clear which is which. What will they choose? Post a short response (1-5+ sentences) in character explaining which path your character chooses and how they go about it. Max 3 character replies per person for this event.
Once a character posts here, the top table will be updated with a vague response to your choice. Read into it what you will! When the event is closed, the dangerous path will be revealed, and your characters will reap their rewards… or punishments.
HOW IT WORKS:
Member 1: Casey walks down path #1, he is anxious but goes anyway. Member 2: Weston pirouettes down path #2 and is annoyed by it. Member 3: Bahar is hesitant but chooses path #3.
Updated in the top table: @ Member 1: Casey - something rustles in the bushes ahead of you on the path. @ Member 2: Weston - There is a strange howl coming from the end of the path. @ Member 3: etc..
When the event is closed, the wrap-up post will reveal what fates befell your characters!
THE THREE PATHS AHEAD OF YOU:
★ THE BIRCHWOOD PATH This path is lined by tall, white birch trees. The air is chilly and fresh snow litters the ground ahead of you. You can make out a faint trail of footprints; someone has been here before you.
★ THE DAPPLED PATH A shady path with a thick green canopy above. Dappled light speckles the natural dirt trail. A squirrel sees you and darts up a nearby oak tree.
★ THE GRAVEL PATH Just like the dappled path, but with bonus gravel! There is also some more light shining through the canopy on this path. No squirrels as far as you know.
Now… make your choice!
The Choices So Far: ★ THE BIRCHWOOD PATH Delilah Harper - A strong gust of icy wind buffets you as you continue down the path. Elizabeth Steele - Glittering lights in the distance catch your eye. Py Ackerman - As you walk down the snowy path, you hear an ominous shriek in the sky. Sascha Stark - The wind wooshes under your poncho and chills you to the bone! Irka Holubice - A mysterious gift-wrapped box lies in your path. Is it a trap?
★ THE DAPPLED PATH Xavior Perez - An eerie quiet falls along the Dappled Path as you walk further. James Colt - A loud chittering comes from the trees above you, as if a thousand birds were screaming at once. Zeppelin - As you continue down the path, you see what appears to be the same squirrel running up a tree, about every 10 trees that you pass. Zora Hendrix - Hippity hopping down the path, you notice you are jumping much higher than is usually possible. Odd.
★ THE GRAVEL PATH Damian Russo - You hear whispers coming from behind you on either side of the path, but you cannot see anyone there. Nikolai Jackson - As you walk along the gravel path, you think for a moment how strange it is that the gravel is not making a sound beneath your feet. Tahoe - You feel like a hundred invisible eyes are watching you as you walk down the gravel path.

Looking at all three paths Damian was so pissed at Weston's vague directions. This was supposed to be a simple task to get him what he asked for. Damian was not amused by having to make a choice hoping to choose the right path. After rolling his eyes Damian decided to go on the Gravel Path.

Xavior examined each path trying to figure out which one would do him the most justice. Every path was unfamiliar so it was hard to make a decision off of previous knowledge. Looking toward the Dappled Path Xavior decided to go down that route.

Delilah felt a breeze roll by sending a bit of a chill down her spine. She was grateful that her red hood kept her just warm enough to tolerate it. In her hand she held a basket of goodies to visit her grandmother down the Birchwood Path.

Niko eyed all three paths, trying to decide which one was least likely to end in disaster. He looked at the squirrel. The squirrel looked back. He didn't trust that squirrel, not one bit. Not turning his back on the clearly evil squirrel, he carefully made his way to The Gravel Path
Post by Elizabeth Steele on Oct 4, 2016 9:25:06 GMT -5
Ellie looked at the first path. On one hand, yay, snow! On the other hand, snow is cold and wet... Oh well, her boots were sturdy enough for the task. With a shrug she ambled down The Birchwood Path
James chose the middle path for no particular reason, it just looked nice. Nothing was on fire, nobody seemed to be waiting to ambush innocent-ish shifters, really, what's the worst that could happen? He casually strolled onto The Dappled Path
Zeppelin happened upon the trio of paths while wandering aimlessly- it was all a little creepy, to be honest. She cautiously scanned each choice with the usual scrutiny of her critical eye and decided to heed common sense; regard the reactions of animals. A squirrel was on The Dappled Path, so she made the logical choice to follow that passage and ignore the other two. She walked on with the confidence that she had chosen correctly, though there was the nagging thought in the back of her head that wondered if she was following the lead of a squirrel, or falling into the trap of a malicious shifter. Familiar paranoia and cynicism did not deter her from prowling cautiously onward.
Tahoe's eyes darted to each path, taking in the obvious while trying also to think of what the obvious meant. On one hand, he'd never really seen snow before, but on the other hand he could see footprints- he really didn't want to stumble into a tight situation. That only left two more options, and they looked the same save for a couple of tiny details. His gut told him that they would both be safe to travel by, and so he chose The Gravel Path by utilizing the eenie-meenie-miney-mo strategy. Tahoe lumbered slowly onto the path with some hesitation but quickly picked up his pace so that he could get through in a timely manner.

Here comes Zora's cotton tail, hoppin' down the dappled trail hippity hoppity look at that Haribou go!
Zora takes a moment to look at the trails in front of her. Choices, choices, everywhere! With a shrug, she bounds down the Dappled Path and waves to the squirrel as she bounces past it in giant, arcing leaps.

Py had been on the trail of a rather twitchy deer, his boots treading lightly across the forest turf, when he realized that the tracks had simply disappeared and the deer was no where to be found. Confused, and a little disconcerted, he had wandered for several minutes trying to pick up the cold trail when he stumbled upon three forked paths, none of which he recognized. The hunter regarded them warily for a moment, gaze flicking from one to the other as he weighed the risks of heading into unknown territory. He could turn back, but curiosity got the better of him, as did the hope of finding something he could bring back to his ring, and he headed off down the Birchwood Path. Boots sinking into the fresh snow and breath rising in the chilled air, he sincerely hoped the footprints he spied on the ground were from someone not looking to throw him headlong into a tree trunk. Then again, luck had been rather elusive as of late.

Post by Sascha Stark on Oct 24, 2016 12:39:40 GMT -5
He couldn't quite remember how he'd gotten this deep in the forest -- or if he'd ever seen this part of the forest before. The trees were unmarked and unfamiliar. These were not the woods of Haven he had come to know. It was quiet, though there was the soft lilt of birdsong overhead, which comforted him. Bunică Magdalena used to tell him stories of the forest when she would visit him and sneak him treats. The forest outside of their ancient home was full of strange things, she said, strange and dangerous things. She told him once to listen always for the birds. If the birds were singing their happy songs of spring and sunshine, that all was well. But if they fell quiet, if there was no sound to be heard except the beating of your own heart -- then think only of Home and your warm fireplace and do not meet the eyes of anything until you crossed the threshold of your home.
Sascha inched closer to a path lined with gravel, peering down the long, winding trail to see if he could see the end. He listened, but heard nothing save the soft rush of his own breath. Trusting in his grandmother's words, he backed away from the all-too-silent path. He wrapped his wings tighter around him as he felt the brisk wind from the snow seep through the poncho he had draped over his shoulders. He pulled the fabric closer around him, tucking his nose into his pink scarf wrapped around his neck. Luckily he'd put them on this morning, as far as he remembered, but he couldn't really picture anything that happened after that. How had he gotten here?
He shook his thoughts clear and inched towards the snowy path, and could hear, faintly, the birdsong. They sounded perhaps a bit sad. He saw footprints in the snow, but no signs of blood or struggle as far as he could see. He felt his feet moving before he could really think much further than that, boots sinking slightly into the fresh, powdery snow.

Irka looks at the three paths, shifting nervously in her warm boots. Between the three paths, the one with the snow seems to be the best lit and the least scary. Besides, she can see fresh footprints in the snow. And that means, if she moves fast enough, she might catch up to someone who knows where they're going. She takes a deep breath, her slender hands clenched in fear, and makes her way down The Birchwood Path.
