The child thought she was going to eat her? Nope. She may be a cannibal in some ways, but she would never hurt someone she was fond of. In the basics of survival, the seal was just a hunk of lifeless flesh that was full of calories for the taking. She had already grown attached to the small poof ball that enjoyed prancing, and dancing around her in the snow. Naturally, she would never eat the young, the pull of the natural order always stopped her from doing anything bad to children. It was nature versus nurture, and nurture always seemed to be winning in the never ending struggle of such an instinct. Her ears prick forward, and a strange wheezing sound came from her mouth. It was very soft at first, but it slowly rattled her belly to the point she was gasping for air. Percylla was laughing. A smile seemed to come on her animalistic lips before she calmed herself so she could at least shake her head no. The midget was safe around her. Amusement slowly was written all over her features before slowly rolled on her side so she could stand. If the pup fell, then she fell. Nurture also went with the lessons of making the younger generation wiser. The mute pushed herself to her legs with a glimmer of amusement in her eyes before pushing her head up into the air, and sniffing.
Her eyes then slowly fell to the lake. Ever so slowly she moved onto the ice that hardly covered the large space of water on her belly as she moved seven feet to the edge. Slowly she let her nose dangle into the water as she stared down into the murky depths. Her tail flipped back, and forth as she seemed to sit there for a while with a certain amount of patience to her visage. In fifteen minutes she stuck her head in the freezing water which caused fish to scatter all over the place. She moved back alarmed as one came to smack her straight in the nose before flopping on the ice. She ran a paw over the now sensitive area before walking over to the flopping morsel , and tearing the head off. Yes, gruesome, but very necessary. She carried the small piece of meat over to the pup, and dropped it in front of her. She would have her meal, and Percylla would have her own. The Lioness went back to the seal, and pick it back up in her mouth. She continued to drag it up the bank, but there seemed to be no blood left in the creature to begin with. Her ears perked back as she did so until she had transported it to the entrance of the cave. Then she went to work on slowly cutting, and dividing the meat into pieces.

When Belle had first heard the strange, rasping wheezing coming from the lioness, she had thought something was wrong. Maybe she was sick or had something caught in her throat. In that split second as those thoughts rushed through her mind, the small pup tensed until the sound became a bit more familiar to her. And, if anything, the faint smile that played on Percy's lips was a dead giveaway. Perking her ears up at the odd sounding laugh, she couldn't help but wag her tail faintly from one side to the other, simply listening. It probably seemed like such a stupid question to have asked her, but the puppy's mind did not think deeply to find answers on her own. Instead, she simply asked them. As her muscles relaxed as the lioness shook her head, she opened her mouth to say something once more before she was suddenly sliding off her friend's chest.
With a faint yelp of surprise, Belle fell onto the soft snow below the two of them, sinking into the slush. It took a moment or two for her to dig herself out, but in that time Percy had suddenly left. Blinking, the small brown canine sniffed at the air before sneezing, the cold air having irritated her nose. Half standing and half sinking back into the snow, her tail continued to wag as she saw the lioness once more with something else in her mouth. Tilting her head, she watched the fish hang limply in her jaws before cautiously sniffing at the slimy thing. She had had fish once before, but only with the help of a pack mate. Still sniffing at the wet creature even as Percy set it down, she pawed gently at it a few times before she ran her tongue over it. It had a foul taste to it, causing her to pull back as she gave a snort. She gave a few barks at it as if it would suddenly jump up and come after her. But, after a time, she fell silent once more and crawled up to the fish where she grabbed it by the tail before dragging it back towards Percy, her tail wagging.

She set the meat to the side before slowly taking the chunks of meat, and pushing them into piles. Fat that was somewhat rotten was push off somewhere else so it did not need to be seen anymore. She did not enjoy such meat, she could it eat it, but it always left a strange burning sensation in her belly. Not very ideal when you could only eat so much every day to keep in tip top physical condition. Percylla pawed at the rest of the meat to get rid of any coagulated blood that had formed around the lining of the fresh, but cold fat near the ribs. She inspected the meat even more to see if anything else rotten was attached to it. Yes, it was strange, but if she had time then she liked to make sure that she was eating correctly. She would only choose the choicest cuts to eat from the seal.
She pushed the seal away so Belle would not see her eating the familiar being. She pushed her nose into the soft flesh of the face before tearing at it. Her teeth tore away at the eats, made the teeth fall to the cold ground, and emitted strange crunching noises. The Lioness worked quickly so the head was gone in only a couple of minutes. Once the identity of the other animal was gone, she finally went to the choice cuts that she savored so much. She started to tear at the rump with a hungry enthusiasm. She had been so controlled not to tear into this wonderful slab of meat that now she would dine like a king or... queen. It mattered on how you looked at the one eating. She may look like a Lioness, but she would rule over a Lion if she needed to. She did not understand the natural instinct to be in a pride to serve for the males. Seemed to strange.
The meat was delicious, and tender, and it did not take her long to clean the seal clean of all meat. Probably forty-five minutes of chewing before it was just a ragged pile of bones. Delicious. Her tongue came out to lick the pink off of her lips before she started to use snow to bury the bones. Fresh snow, not the bloody goop that was around her. She dug like a dug as snow rocketed between her legs to cover up her done meal.

Compared to her, the fish was practically half her body length, though it was lighter which allowed her to carry it much easier. It was still dragging across the ground, her short, stubby legs not long enough to keep the fish off the ground. As she finally reached their little cave, she dropped the fish down, her chest heaving as she panted, her pink tongue flapping and curling in and out from between her tiny jaws. Her paws shuffled around faintly in the snow as she sniffed again at the fish, staring blankly at it before she tried biting into it. The flesh of the fish was soft and her small teeth easily punctured it, though she couldn't say the taste was wonderful. The skin was slimy and tasted like mud. Snorting faintly as she pulled her mouth away, she continued to stare at the fish, watching as a small trail of blood slid down the scales of the fish from where her teeth had cut in.
Sitting there silently, Belle pressed a paw heavily onto the fish's side before scrapping her claws against the skin. Her nails were not long or sharp like Percy's, but it was apparently enough at the flesh tore beneath them. Eyes lighting up at the fact that she had managed to get off some skin, her tail wagging, she began to dig at it harder and faster until she had cleared out a chunk of the skin. Yipping excitedly, she quickly pressed her muzzle into the pink meat of the fish, lapping up at the blood before chewing on the soft muscles. It took her some time to eat, but even then she did not finish it all. Wagging her tail, she swiped her tongue over her now wet, darkened muzzle before looking over at Percy. She wasn't quite sure what she was doing digging in the snow like that. Was she looking for something? Tilting her head, silently watching her with wonder, Belle gradually stepped up behind her to try and get a look when a huge clump of snow fell on her She gave a faint snort to get the wet, frosty substance out of ehr nose when another pile came flying on top of her. Then, another. And, another. It kept coming until the small pup was buried under the snow.

Once she was satisfied with her pile of snow she began to pat it down with a scarred pad of her foot until she notices something wrong. Belle was missing. She would have expected the puppy to hyper actively run around her in the usual manner, but there was silence. A snort escaped her nostrils as she took in the air to catch the pup’s scent. It was strong! She tilted her head from one side to the other as she scanned the vast landscape around her before her eyes came to settle on the pile of snow. Percylla moved closer to it so she could gently press her nose into the cold substance that lay on the ground. Yep, she accidentally buried her. Her head tilted to the side as she gently used a paw to wipe away the frozen water until brown fur slowly started to appear from the white. Her head slowly tilted to the side as she studied the poof before leaning down, and picking up the bundle.
She slowly moved away with the puppy gently hanging from her jaws. The mute went cross eyed to stare at the tiny creature before setting back down so she could smooth the snow back over. Once that was done she slowly turned towards her, and shook herself. Snow, and ice scattered all over the place before her long tongue came out to clean her fur. Now just a quick grooming session before she did anything else. It was very routine, but it calmed her in a sense. The fact that she would be clean by just simple licking was a strange sensation. She was used to being pushed in a shower, and hosed down with a mix of soap, and water before being pushed into a drying room. It was a very strange process, but only took about five minutes to complete when she was back at the facilities.
Percy slowly rolled round, and round to reach random places on her body with that long, strong tongue. Her torn ears gently pushed back as she pushed at her belly a bit. The satisfaction of push away dirt felt nice. A sigh escaped from her nostrils as she pushed her nose into the snow to get the blood off of it with her eyes intently watching Belle.

Belle had never had the luxury of being buried in snow, and she couldn't quite say that she enjoyed it. Being in the snow was cold as it was simply stepping and playing in it. But, to be buried in it, it was freezing! Not only that, but it weighed heavily onto her back, pushing her down to the earth. It may not have been seen as a large amount of snow, but for a pup as small as she was, it was more than plenty. The once seemingly light substance was now pushing against her small form as the snow kept coming, covering her completely by its white, wet flakes. She wasn't quite sure how much snow was now on top of her or whether Percy was still pushing more snow over her, but that really didn't matter. As a sense of panic began to settle into her, she tried to wiggle her way out, the snow moving here and there to accommodate her shifts, but it did little to help her get out. There was simply too much snow above her for her to be able to push herself out.
Softly whining, her deep brown eyes unable to see anything but white, Belle tried to scratch at the icy substance. Still being fresh, her small, blunt claws scraped away some of the snow, but it was a slow process. As she continued her attempt to dig herself out, she paused when another, much louder scraping sound came from above her. Unable to move or look up, she simply sat there and listened. For a moment it seemed like nothing was happening until she felt something brush against her fur, causing it to bristle simply out of habit and instinct. Then, without warning, she was hoisted up into the air once more, feeling the powerful but gentle jaws of her friend pull her out. This time keeping still, Belle's tail wagged faintly, happy to be out of that snow. "I don't like being under snow," she stated softly as the lioness gently put her down. "It's so cold and scary."
Standing onto her paws, she shook her small form to rid herself of the large, already loose chunks of snow from her fur. But, unfortunately, there was not a lot in the first place. Much of the snow had melted into her fur, causing her brown pelt to stick against her small but sturdy form. And, for the second time, she found herself shivering. "...I huh-huh-hate the cuh-cold."

That is when her maternal instincts kicked in to an extreme level. Her ears perked forward as her large paw shot forward to nudge the pup towards her. She splayed out her legs, but kept her front in a sitting position with her rump stayed to the side. The pup was slowly pushed into the softness of her underbelly before she tilted herself even more so she had created a wind breaker, and small cave out of her belly , and legs. She pushed her back feet across one another before the fluff tip of her tail came around to rest on the pup's head to provide the pup with something that would dry her. The tail gently ran over the wet body as it seemed to soak up the wetness strangely as it rubbed, and scrubbed her slowly. Percy inclined her head in to stare at the tiny bundle. This position reminded her of how a Penguin might have warmed an egg.
Once her tail was wet she stuck it in her mouth, and suck on it before spitting out the water. She slowly pushed herself forward so she gave more shelter, and stuck the tip around her back leg to dry. The mismatched eyes of the Lioness closed slightly as she seemed to doze in this position. The torn ears a top her head slowly pointed backwards, and a lazy yawn escaped her large maw. A sneeze shook her body before she shook her pelt clean of any water or snow. The short, darkened fur puffed up in the sun before slowly laying back down once again. Similar to a cat she let out her claws to slowly knead, and paw at the ground to keep them warm. She did not need anymore stiff joints with a pup around. She needed to be quick on her feet at all times.
A sigh escaped her lips as her eyes wondered down to the youngling as soft coos, and whistles came from the back of her throat before she started to vibrate. Her purring was very garbled, and almost a whisper, but it still came from deep in her chest.

Though she couldn't honestly say she particularly enjoyed snow at the moment in time, Belle couldn't help the urge to paw at the frosty, frozen powder. She was shivering and wet from it, yet she still manage to find a way to tolerate it and play around with the small, flaky clumps. But, the small brown pup did not necessarily have much time to play with her loved and hated toy. Giving a small squeak of surprise as she felt Percy's large paw press against her side and gently bring her closer to her large form. Blinking faintly in confusion, her deep brown eyes staring up at the lioness as she began to make odd forms and movements with her large but lithe form. She said nothing, though, simply watching in interest before she felt the same warm, comforting feeling in her chest as she was pushed against her friend's underbelly. A small smile slid across her muzzle as she buried her nose into the soft fur of her friend, her tail wagging fiercely behind her.
While she was indeed still wet and shivering, she found herself to be warm simply by the comfort and security she felt with the shifter. While many retros saw shifters as an enemy, as a threat, she felt no such hatred or anger. Her child mind had yet to be filled with such a poison, believing that everyone should be able to be trusted. She saw no harm in anyone, no danger. And, it was because of that that she felt so connected to this shifter. She trusted her with all her heart and that was something that would never go away. As she felt Percy's tail run over and over her small body, soaking up a good piece of the chilling water that had clung onto her fur, she felt the edge melt off from the cold. As she continued to sit there against the lioness's chest, she began to run her tongue over her friend's fur, her tail wagging all the while. "You're my bestest best friend, Percy," she yipped, pausing in her affectionate licks before continuing, licking at whatever spot she could possibly reach.

Her eyes closed slightly as she felt a warm feeling form in her belly before slowly disappearing so that that numbing cold was again the only thing that she truly felt. Slowly her gaze traveled downward to the bundle that was happily nuzzling between her muscular legs. Large, rounded ears flicked forward before pushing themselves back again. She opened her mouth slightly, and let off a deep grunt, and moan of gratitude before pushing her head awkwardly between her legs to nuzzle into Belle's fur. A sigh escaped her nostrils so it rushed over her drying fur with a lazy look in her eye. Her meal had left her lazy, and tired. Percylla needed her afternoon cat nap, but she did not want to let Belle get cold so she did the most awkward movement she could do in her situation. She pushed up her back legs so that Belle was pushed further into her soft belly before standing with the pup awkwardly balanced between her muscular thighs. She was very careful with the way she moved, and the pressure around the dog's sides was gentle.
Slowly her paws moved forward, but she forced her back end to hop along every couple of steps as she made her way over to the cave. It was a very slow process, but it took a minute or two for her to actually get at the entrance before moving into the warm area. Once she pulled herself over to the back, she slowly let her rump fall back down before going back to cradling her between her legs. Slowly she let herself fall forward, and to the side before using her paws to push the pup to her chest. Her limbs slowly wrapped around the cooled, and wet figure wish a sigh. The large 'house cat' had a very lazy look in her eye at the moment, and planned to rest as the midget dried.
Large ears slowly pushed backwards with a deep hiss before it turned back into a deep, and comforting purr. Her tail gently thumped against the rocky floor before her light colored eyes slowly started to close as she went into a very peaceful, and satisfied doze.

Had Percy told the small pup what she wanted to do, she would've gladly walked back to the cave herself. But, it seemed as if that wasn't going to be happening. Giggling faintly as she watched the lioness awkwardly hop over to the cave, her tail wagging as she remained settled on the feline's large paws, Belle did what she could to stay still. Of course, being her, it was far more difficult than it would be for most others to stay still. Her tiny paws shuffled beneath her, pressing against the fur of her friend's paws. It took awhile for the two of them to get back to the cave, but the small brown pup had more than enough fun and enjoyment from her little ride. Not to mention it was greatly warm there on her paws. Giggling as the lioness practically rolled them inside the cave, her tail didn't once stop wagging, burying her nose into the soft fur of Percy's underbelly before pulling away and sneezing faintly.
The gentle gestures and care from this lioness brought that sense of home she hadn't even been aware she had been missing. Watching the large feline as her eyes drooped, Belle tilted her head to one side then the other, wondering how she could already be tired. It was still early in the morning and they had hardly done anything. As Percy began to doze off, a soft whine slipped through the pup's throat, lifting her head up. She didn't want to sleep now and Percy was the only one here she could play with. Sitting there silently for a few moments, simply looking around the cave, she gradually laid herself down, curling up against her friend and protector's chest. As the warmth from Percy flowed into her being, the small pup gradually found herself growing drowsy as well, her eyes becoming heavy before she drifted into a light sleep as well. Of course, this little, peaceful nap of theirs did not last very long.
Hardly fifteen minutes had passed before the pup was back on her paws. She had slept more than enough and she wanted to have some fun. Looking to Percy, her dark brown eyes stared at her sleeping form before she stood. As much as she wanted to play with her friend, she would leave her alone...for now at least. Running her tongue over her lips she padded around their small cave for a few moments, sniffing around at the small crevices in the rocks. But, something eventually caught her attention. It was a small pebble that was lodged in between a crack made by two stones of their cave. It was round and smooth and had a swirl of brown and red on its surface. Wagging her tail, Belle barked a few times at the rock, scraping her claws against the outside of the crack, unable to fit her paw inside. Her haunches wiggled as she continued to attempt to get it, but she only failed. Whining, she sat herself, staring intently at the small pebble before she tried a different method.
It took some time for Belle to focus, but after a few moments, the small brown pup was gone. Instead a small girl sat in her place. She was wearing a muddied t-shirt with a pair of simple denim shorts. Smiling, she then reached in with her small fingers, prodding at the pebble before it came tumbling out. "Percy! Percy," she suddenly cheered, no longer caring that her friend was sleeping as the small girl jumped onto the lioness's back. "Lookie what I found!"

The first thing that she registered was a shuffling noise around her, but it did not really bother her much. Her left ear twitched slightly at the sound of pattering feet, and a small, sniffling nose. The puppy was only down for fifteen minutes before she decided it was time to explore the cave. Well, that did not bother the lioness to much. The sound actually lulled her back into a deep sleep than before. It was such a peaceful blackness that she even seemed to purr at the very thought that her mind was not plagued by dreams of torture or pain. This was the ideal place right now with the pup. She might have shacked up there for a while, but this territory was already inhabited by a pack of mutts which she was sure knew Belle. It was the only answer for the appearance of the pup.
Then, she felt hands prodding her. Slowly, she opened her eyes to see the girl. No, Belle. This was Belle in human form, and it matched her personality, and body matched up to her animal form. It was quite interesting to see the contrast between the Retromorph, and Shifter. Percylla looked nothing like her human form when she was put up as a Lioness. The scars on her large body made her look so much older, while her human face told a completely different story altogether. She had the soft face of a teenager, she was only eighteen after all, but she had lived long past her years when it came to wisdom. A harsh world caused a hard, and emotionless character, but it was obvious to see that the mute was intelligent enough to know that being like that all the time was unhealthy. Intelligence said letting loose was good every once, and a while as long as nothing bad happened.
As she looked at the pebble, her interest was not piqued by the small object, but by the girl. So, for consideration she let herself transform into her basically nude human form. She slowly plucked the pebble out of her small fingers, and studied it with large, calculating eyes before slowly giving it back to Belle, and pushed the little girl's fingers around it. The eighteen year old pushed herself into a sitting position, and her legs were slowly pushed underneath her so she was sitting Indian style. A sigh escaped her lips as she looked at the pebble that was clutched within the fingers. She transformed back into a Lioness, and slowly stood up. Her large shoulder moved up first, and then her rump. She looked back at the girl as she stayed on her back as if she was a horse. Belle was lucky that she was so mild-mannered towards children, and some teenagers.

As she sat on the large feline, Belle was finally able to truly appreciate the dark coat of her friend. It was not the softest thing she had ever felt, but it was something different than what she was used to. As her gaze lowered to the pelt that rested beneath her, she lightly ran her fingers through the fur, her head tilting to the side before she felt the fur disappear. Quickly looking back up at Percy, the young woman no longer in her larger form, she finally took her fingers off from her skin, smiling as she watched her friend study the small object. It was such a simple thing, really. It was hardly the size of a thumb and besides the unique color on its surface, there was nothing much to it. But, it completely and utterly fascinated the girl. It seemed like a treasure to her, like a discovery that no one had ever made before! Still sitting on the other female, uncaring of the fact that the woman was hardly covered, the young retromorph happily took the small stone back.
As Percy sat up, Belle found herself sliding off her, giggling faintly as she plopped down onto the rocky floor of their cave. Her deep chocolate brown eyes sparkled with their usual sparkle of interest as she watched her shift back into her feline form. Lightly tilting her head, she clutched the small rock in hand before scooting over to Percy. "Hey, Percy," she began, her free hand again running over her fur before she began scratching behind her friend's ear. She never really got to interact with others when she wasn't in her natural form, and she was curious at that point what it would be like. "We're pals, right? And, we'll always be together, right?" In her mind, there was nothing that could go wrong. She was sure that the two of them would be best friends forever no matter what. Unfortunately, she was oblivious to how false that statement was...

She felt her hands slowly glide over her fur which caused a deep grumble, and sigh escape from her lips. Her nose twitched slightly as her large eyes slowly started to close. No one had ever petted her before, and this was an experience which she enjoyed, even though it was fairly short. Her gaze settled on the girl as she seemed to be studying the very softness, and definition of the spindly fibers which grew from her body. The darkness of her fur was attributed to the darkness which she had lived her whole life in. When she was kept as a fighter, she was never aloud outside. She was either stuck in her cage of a room or pushed into a training area where she was pushed beyond her physical limitations. It was a hard life, but it also taught her how unfair it actually was. At the young age of twelve, all of her dreams were stamped out with harsh beatings. She understood that things changed, and that's how it would always be. Deep down she understood that taking this pup with her would not be a smart idea. She would leave the ball of fluff behind until she got older, and she would periodically visit. She did not want her 'friend' to get hurt.
She slowly turned her head at the question, and shrugged. Her head hung low with her ears cocked backwards. Slowly she turned her head back to push her nose to her chest before pushing herself away, and standing in a straighter position. Her large eyes were not sad, but it was obvious that it was time for her to move on. She would always be in the pup's heart, but moving on was something that was necessary. She would be back obviously, but staying here was dangerous to bother parties.
She looked back at the pup before putting her head down, and moving towards the exit.
