Claws pruned at each and every grey feather that adorned his body, his other foot tapping against the rusty metal of the senior war ship. Opening his wings, he allowed the wind to pick him up off the side of the boat, landing upon the main deck so he could shape shift. Ruffling his sandy hair, his piercing blue eyes scanning the entrance of the boat. The rickety old decking leading up to the main deck shook slightly in the wind, not really safe for any sane human or animal. But neither he or James were sane so he guessed they'd be fine. Shoes squeaked angrily on the rusty alloy compounds as Ace adventured the area. "Oh how grand this must have looked in its full glory." It had been used in so many wars and now it was just here...sitting, alone, waiting. A little bit like him at the moment. At least they were alone this time instead of having the annoying, yapping, whining little tenderfoot brats nipping at their heels like a pair of Jack Russells.
OOC: Here we go. I have nothing against Jack Russells though. It's the first thing that came into my head. No offence if you have one.
Not for the first time, James was grateful for his thick fur; with no wings to carry him and the floating bridge that had once made the great ship accessible from land long gone, the only way over was to swim. The water was as chilly as you would expect for this time of year, brisk gusts of wind not helping at all. If he had been in human shape the swim would have been unpleasent to say the least, perhaps even dangerous, but in tiger shape he wasn't too bothered by the cold; he was even enjoying himself.
Hauling himself out of the water he shook himeself, scattering droplets across the aged wood of the deck. Arrow had already landed on the deck, and he shifted with an easy smile for the other hunter, happy to see him and still somewhat in shock that his feelings were reciprocated. The ship was a good place to go to be away from other Carna; unless you could fly the only way was to swim, and he doubted many others would be as willing to brave the cold water as he was. He enjoyed the company of his ring mates, but a sewer full of Carna wasn't exactly conductive to private conversation or companionship.
"It definitely would have been a sight to see, huge old warship like this. Immagine how many men you would have needed to crew it, engines humming, guns booming... It would have been amazing." He looked off into the distance, wondering how many had gone down with the ship those hundreds of years ago, how many of them had been shifters living in secret? Snapping back to reality he grinned at Arrow.
"Imagine if we had something like this, eh? A Carna warship. That'd give the Keepers a thing or two to be worried about for sure, heh. Not that they'd give us a weapon like that, safer to watch us muddle about with knives and bows I guess."
He looked around, taking in the rusted metal and rotting timbers to get an idea of how it would have looked. The footing was a little uneven, but he had enough balance not to worry too much about falling. His hair was still wet from his swim, and he shook his head like a dog to try and get rid of some of the water, only succeeding in making his hair stick up in every direction. He snorted ruefully and glanced shyly at Arrow with a sheepish smile.
He had found himself glancing at Arrow every now and then over the last few days, almost as if the other hunter would dissapear if he didn't keep an eye out. He couldn't help himself, he'd never had anyone that wanted to stick around before, and no one had wanted to spend more than a day or so in his company since... well, since his brother, and that had been inside the cages. He expected after a little while he'd probably get used to it a bit more, but he didn't think he'd ever be able to take anyone's presence for granted, let alone Arrow's.
"Good to get away from the sewers for a bit, eh? Someone else can take care of the brats for a while, hopefully they come to their senses and train as medics or omegas instead. Either way they're not my problem for now. You however..." he grinned, half shy and half flirting, still unsure of boundaries and manners and a thousand other things but blue eyes shining with affection nonetheless.
ooc: sorry this is so late, been a bit of a crazy week and my laptop was playing up a bit but it's all fixed now :). And don't worry, my dog is a dachshund cross who thinks she's a princess hehe.
