Weary eyes opened as she sat up, though seeing nothing as she supported herself on her palms which splayed out behind her. She tilted her head listening for sound when the slight tremor that went through her fingers told her of a small creature next to her which she had startled into running from her. She frowned, her brows knitting together in concentration as she sat still, suddenly aware of the smaller and larger vibrations she felt through the ground.
This was a rush to her, this new ... ability she suddenly had? ... oh this was wonderful! She grinned like a child who suddenly had thought of the most wonderful idea. She let her hands dig into the sand then and ... sand? She frowned again as she pushed herself up the rest of the way and let her hearing catch the faint sound of a waterfall and the gentle lapping of water a few feet away...
Where the hell was she?
She moved to stand up, a little woosey as she tried to gain her bearings. She didn't remember coming .. here. Wherever here was exactly .. the thought of being out of her comfort zone made her growl in the back of her throat. The last thing she remembered was a whoosh of air before something dug itself into her neck. She raised fingertips to brush the sides of her neck before she found the small bump from scar tissue ... it had to have been the Keepers. Though .. she realized .. those were the ones who must've made her ... like this. These feeling that were so new she didn't know where to start! She grinned child-like once more to move away from the water to have her bare feet hit solid ground, and the feelings were almost overwhelming.
Her head began to swim before she sat down on a small boulder, closing her eyes tightly and pressing her hands over her ears as she tried to put names to certain feelings. This was a lot more harder than it sounded as she mumbled and whined a bit in frustration.

His joints were stiff, and with each movement they protested almost visibly; his body was rigid and tight, his enormous form carrying visible tension even through the miserable looking shirt he had wrapped around him or the ragged scarf that hung limply from his neck. Kincaid was quite unsure how to use these contraptions of human making, but the cold, wet weather was to much. The snow that drifted lazily around him had seemed harmless enough at first, but then, oh then, he had been met with the dastardly event of allowing a snowflake to land on him and, oh, the horror! To melt! Snow...snow was frozen water! Needless to say he had quickly found some type of garb to cover his bare-chestedness and something, anything, to cover his feet - it was difficult to find anything to fit his bony, awkward feet. He settled for a pair of shoes with the toes snipped off, to where his bone-toes poked happily out and kept the rest of his skin-shackled feet covered.
The almost imperceptible sound of trickling water reached his keen ears and almost immediately he veered in the other direction - avoiding the toxic, deadly substance at all costs; but there was something else that caught his attention just as he shifted directions. The faint scent of a human. Instantly his curiosity sparked into life, taking on a newborn hunger that would not easily be satiated. Picking up speed the seven foot two Virus pushed his way through the forest, ignoring the searing pain as branches cut into his skin and his massive bone wings clacked sickly together; he ignored the twinge of pain at each buffet and movement but pushed on through, the sound of water snarling in his ears but the wonderful perfume of the human dragging him forth. At last, he stepped into a clearing, and just beyond him spread the vast expanse of...oh, no. A lake. Four eyes widened in dismay and he stumbled to the side, trying to skirt around the edge, and ended up tumbling face first into the dirt, air gushing from his lungs.
Dazed for a moment, he refused to be down for long, he pushed himself to his feet, long skeletal fingers running quickly through his hair, dusting off his clothes for any hint of snow. He turned, then, at a soft sound, a soft rustle of fabric. There. The human. He smiled broadly, white teeth flashing brilliantly as he stepped forward, head cocked to the side as he gazed at the female human with interest, four pupil-less eyes locked wholly upon her.
"Are you" He paused, unsure of the frustrated look that she had on her face. "Are you okay?" He didn't really understand human emotions - but he had seen plenty of them to know the name of frustration, anger, desperation. Fear.

She was concentrating, listening ... and all at once this made her head pound painfully as she sat there, rocking a little bit back and forth before she heard the rustling of something nearby and froze in her spot, though her position of frustration did not move as she listened ... felt as the animal .. no .. person, two-legged ... walked towards her. She tensed as he spoke to her, her muscles locking in a hunched position as she bit her lip softly.
Her head moved slowly up, bangs falling a bit to the side but mostly covering her eyes still as her hands toyed with the hair under her hands that still were poised at the sides of her head. Her mouth down turned as she looked in the general direction where she had felt him stop, though she wasn't sure if she was accurate or not. "I'm a bit ... turned around .. ," she said, the frustration straining her vocals as brows knitted together under the veil of hair. "The Keepers .. must have dumped me .. here," she said with anger laced within her words now.
"Where ... are we?" she asked .. taking a chance to trust whomever had stumbled upon her. If need be she could hold her own for the most part. Though as she tilted her head up slightly as if to look at the other her hair parted, her vibrant orbs which no one usually laid eyes upon glittering under the winter sun.

Four eyes locked onto her face intently - their liquidy golden-yellow depths glowing softly. They traced every feature with delight, a subtle joy tingling in whatever chemicals his brain was compiled of; humans found it entertaining to constantly tell him he was not human nor ever would be, which really didn't make much sense - he never said he wanted to be a human, not once! And still they mocked and mocked simply because he didn't want to maim them to bloody, shredded bits. Ah, well. It was not his job to take the words of humans seriously, no matter how much he wished to study them.
He watched in amazement as her eyes looked past him but seemed focused and intent on staring him down. So she was blind. Never had he met such a human! To lose the ability to see must be extraordinarily difficult! And worse, she was stranded out here in the midst of the wilderness. How terrible for the poor human girl! He felt his pseudo heart clench with some feeble attempt at emotion - something he had never felt before. The only inkling he had as to what it was, was simply that it felt different than normal. It had to be what the Keepers had started injecting him with - chemicals that made him feel like a human. "Damned Keepers," he growled, his baritone voice rumbling with surprising ferocity from his chest. And he meant it, too! It was already hard enough to kill humans when he truly wanted to learn about them - but now, now he could begin to relate with them!
I suppose I could always visit the Carna, he thought with a dissatisfied sigh, then suddenly brightened when he recognized the girl's scent. It was mostly covered by the sterile scent of the lab that he knew all too well, but she was definitely a Carna! "We're at Goodlady Lake, I think." He was hoping since this girl was blind she wouldn't notice that he wasn't a shifter. "You are a Carna, yes? I recognize your scent." He paused, frowning and shifting to move to the side when the sun got too hot on his bare shoulders. "You are a long way from home..." He winced as the slight movement made his bone wings clack subtly, hoping she wouldn't have heard. "I'm Siderius Kincaid, but you can call me Kincaid. And are you sure you're okay?"

A wicked grin pulled the lips back from pearly whites that lined her mouth, flashing them as she giggled a little bit oddly, an amused sound following as she .. felt him. It was odd, the slight shift in his stance was like a pressure on the side of her body almost in the direction .. she assumed he was in .. at least it was where his voice came from. Her brows rose curiously, taking note of the odd feelings, the sensations of pressure and mental images that were usually so random a bit more vivid and like waves .. visual waves from ... vibrations?
"Damned Keepers he growled. "Damn them is right," she said angrily as the side of her lip furled up around her left human canines as she huffed and stood, her hands idly smoothing her disheveled hair as she sniffed the air. Goodlady Lake? she thought to herself ... oh crap. She was quite far if what she remembered about people talking about the different areas of the Menagerie. She nodded at the mention of her Carna status, deciding to let it slide by that was was the lead hunter. It not seeming as such as she was accepting help from a stranger. Survival instincts were sometimes a bit different for her .. and .. most of the time people more often offered their help rather than her needing it.
".. call me Kincaid. And are you sure you're okay?" "I'm sure I'll be fine as soon as the drugs dissipate .. I hope," she grunted as she lifted one hand to massage her temple as the constant movement of the water, the shifting of the trees in the wind, the animals moving in the ground .. on the ground. She could barely sort it out and it was proving to be difficult to focus ... she pouted as she closed her eyes for a few moments before turning towards this "Kincaid". "A pleasure .. Seija Mulveine is who stands before you," she said with a small bow at the waist.
As she bowed low, her arm over her waist she had a sudden bout of dizzyness take over as her balance suddenly disappeared as she felt herself toppling over. Her hands moved sluggishly to try and catch herself before she hit the ground as she grit her teeth while anticipating the impact.
ooc; ugh .. *shoots self as well*

Kincaid watched her subtle movements - winces of pain that seemed to coincide with the even more subtle movements of the area around them. He pursed his lips thoughtfully, wondering what exactly the Keepers had done to her. His chest felt heavy with resentment at the thought of them having their hands all over her - this blind human, even more defenseless to fight them off than the usual Shifter! How...how detestable! He felt a bubble of hysterical laughter rising in his chest - laughter, a strange thing for him as he’d never really laughed nor knew what it was or what it meant - to think, he, a Virus, judging the Keepers for doing their job! Oh, Nyx would have a field day with that.
At the thought of his viral brother his massive heart fluttered and he cast his gaze about warily, four eyes searching almost frenetically for the smaller, slighter creature who he obviously feared. His younger ‘brother’ was perhaps the only thing he feared in The Menagerie besides water and the Keepers themselves. Nyx was certainly not a nice brother, but Kincaid didn’t know how brother’s truly should act. “Seija Mulveine...” he paused, smiling at the sound of her voice; it had a feral edge to it that he rather liked. And that bow thing she- stopping himself mid-thought he lunged forward with surprising speed for his massive size and scooped her up easily in his arms as she fell; perhaps picking her up fully off the ground was not a good idea, but he acted on instinct. Instinct? How silly - his instinct was to kill. So what was this? This subtle trill of electricity pulsing through his thick, sludgy blood and tickled along his spine. Bone wings clacked loudly as he regained his balance and held her against him, unknowing that his arms would feel like steel and almost sharp like mental with a thin layer of skin, a vain attempt to cover what was beneath. The massive virus seemed to cradle the girl caringly - unnecessarily of course, seeing as she wasn't actually injured. And yet he found himself content with a human in his arms, exactly so - uninjured. Uninfected. He realized that his long, skeleton fingers gripped her shoulder - probably cold and dead to the touch. A dead giveaway.
Damn.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Kincaid stooped and placed the girl carefully on the ground, wincing once again as his vertebrae shifted and cracked audibly, groaning slightly under the pressure and weight and straining against the skin that stretched tight over the protruding bones. "Please, sit back down," He pleaded his voice urgent as he began to back away slowly, prepared to flee - he knew he wouldn't be able to harm her. "Please."

When the impact of the semi-frozen ground did not come she frowned, the hard frame of something strong holding her up, her body frozen in place as she felt the fingers, cold and hard, around her arms. She tilted her head up slightly in the others arms, her hand barely raised as if to reach up and touch this .. creatures? face as a small shiver ran through her; half from the actual cold and the other from the unknown of this stranger. She was a bit scared, intimidated .. and curious to say the least. She felt him shift as he tipped her, her feet touching the ground as she heard a loud crack that seemed to come from the stranger that had caught her.
"I am fine .. are you alright?" she asked as she looked to the other, her eyes wide although no sight was seen she could "see" where he stood next to her as a hand lifted to reach out to him. He moved out of her reach, her lips pulling down at the corners as she felt another wave of dizziness come over her as she moved to a kneeling crouch. "Where are you going?" she said as her hand moved out in the vague direction he had gone to and where his voice was. In her voice was laced with an urgent need for the other to help her. She didn't know exactly how she would get home if these drugs were to stay in her body for too long.
"What are .. you?" she asked softly, though more to herself, out loud, as if asking it audibly would give her some clue as to what .. who it was that caught her. And who it was that may be able to take her back to Carna land.

"I am fine .. are you alright?" He couldn't comprehend why she would be asking him this question - why should a human care for him? The again, why should he care for a human. The chemicals that comprised his brain couldn't make sense of these new things called 'emotions'. They were jumbled and contorted and twisted virulently in a mind built for mass murder - a conflict of epic proportions in his views. The urge to infect had never been particularly strong - it was always overpowered by the desire to learn of these humans and their ways. He never wanted to be a human, though, as Nyx often incorrectly assumed. He just wanted to understand them.
"Yes."
And now, now he had this to deal with! The Keepers were relentless with their experiments! Relentless! He began to feel more and more like an implement in the hands of the Keepers to use at their whim, answering their every beck and call. A bubble of something he couldn't name - resentment - welled up inside him and he felt the need to slam his fist into something, do something to cause destruction or anything to relieve the pressure weighting his chest. Trying to ignore the onslaught of emotions he stumbled backwards, almost in fear of her touch, her arm outstretched and hand trembling. "Where are you going?" He could hear her fear - was she afraid of him? Had she discovered what he was? His pseudo-heart pounded in his chest cavity and he halted, unsure of whether he should go or stay - she obviously needed him. "N-n..." He stuttered, unable to answer her truthfully - but there was no alternative. He'd heard of human's capability to forgo the truth but he, as a Virus, had never been taught the wilesome devices of mankind and didn't know what it was to lie. "What are .. you?"
"Anthro." The word slipped unbidden from his lips, four eyes wide in shock at the blatant side-step of the truth. He didn't quite understand what had just happened - the lie had sprung from a rampant desire not to scare the living daylights out of this poor creature and have her grope blindly in her impregnable darkness. He let his four eyes drift shut and tried to imagine what the world was like to her - but he snapped back to reality and stepped toward her, reaching out tentatively and allowing their fingertips to touch, ever so gently.
"I...I am glad you cannot see me." He paused, if only for a brief moment. "It has been a long while since anyone has talked to me without fear."

She waited after he uttered the one word reply, trying to gain control of this newly-found gift to try and find where he was, though everything was jumbled and made her head hurt even worse as she tried to understand it. She shifted as she heard illegible syllables slip from him, paying more attention to shift her position to face him more properly; she had never felt so useless and weak before.
"Anthro...," she repeated after him, she had never met a anthro before and only heard of them. She wondered what he looked like spliced with an animals body. For that matter, she wondered what he was since he had felt so peculiar - but it made the most sense.
As she felt his fingertips she brushed hers over the ends of his, curiously as she moved a little closer to reach with her other hand and touch the top of his hand, laying hers over it.
"I don't understand why the appearance of someone matters so much when it is their persona that gives them life," she said as she made a face and closed her eyes, her hands still as she sat there. "You don't have to be frightened of me, even though you make it as if I should be the one frightened of you. The only thing I am scared of, really, is being in a place I am not familiar with like now. Though I am unsure of what the Keepers did to me ... it seems they have enhanced my senses in some way ... though right now they are a source of discomfort," she said as she winced as a pulsing started in her head.
