[bg=000000][atrb=width,500,true][atrb=border,0,true]And he’d be welcome to them, she thought idly. The thought of food did nothing but make her nauseous, which was the main cause of her weight loss. Even when she had tried to eat, most of it wouldn’t stay down. Which would be a shame if there really were cookies about, since she hadn’t eaten anything sweet in years. The tiger had picked up a jolting run, which certainly wasn’t helping her already unsettled stomach, but Holly clenched her jaw and endured the jarring motions without complaint.
"What did you get infected with anyways?" He was still moving at a run, and she forced down another swallow before answering. “I don’t know for sure. I’d guess that it’s either tuberculosis or a bad case of pneumonia.” After all, the encounter with the virus hadn’t included the phrase, ‘alright, I’m going to infect you with X now.’ Perhaps it would have been less creepy if it had.
The Fulsi slowed, so she released the tight muscles she’d used to keep from toppling off his back at the rough pace, gratefully straightening her spine. The plan was indeed simple, but she was wary of whatever deal he was intending to make. She wanted to ask, but had a feeling a straight answer would take some effort to extract, so resigned herself to waiting and watching. At his warning, she rolled her eyes. “Right. Because of course I’m going to throw myself at the nearest Keeper.”
When he stopped moving, she slid off the tiger’s back, coughing again. She paused until they subsided, then wiped at her watering eyes so she could see. After a moment she located the camera, unobtrusively tucked up into the branches. Another glance found a sheltered hollow between a tree and bush, out of direct sight of the area around the camera, but that would afford her with a decent view. Pointedly, she padded over to it and sprawled on the ground. “I’ll stay right here like a good little Carna,” she drawled.
Briefly, she wondered what would happen if his “deal” fell through, and he didn’t get the medicine. Would he continue trying to help her? Would he say screw it, and finally leave her alone? That seemed unlikely, he’d probably kill her instead. His originally friendly personality had vanished into obvious dislike, even hatred. Oh well. Either way, she’d be rid of him soon.
