For the first time in his life, Adi’s dreams were filled with images of happiness. No nightmares about his father’s wrath or his mother’s death bothered him; all he could see was Reagan’s beautiful face the first time he’d laid eyes on her. His baby… Adi still couldn’t believe that he was a father, but his dreams were far ahead of him, already envisioning Adelina and Reagan as they all grew older; Reagan playing in the Fallen without a care while Adison visited, setting aside his Carna duties to be with his family... Adi knew he didn’t want her to grow up like he did, with the focus being on sheer survival and training for the future. He wanted his baby to be happy, and that’s the way he imagined her future.
But suddenly it occurred to him that she had only been born a few days ago. Where exactly was he, then? Adison groaned as he slowly opened his eyes, the blinding midday sun making him cringe. The acrid, chemical stench of the Keeper’s labs clung to his body and clothes, and Adison realized that he must have been taken in for some sort of testing. "Bastards," He hissed, rolling onto his side to escape the burning glare of the sun in his eyes. At a time when Adelina needed him the most, those damned keepers had taken him away! Adison wasn’t even sure how long he’d been gone, really. Whenever he went into the labs, the Keepers made sure to keep him heavily sedated. He wondered what exactly they might have done to him, but he didn’t feel any different… Adison slowly sat up, his muscles aching from lack of use. He began checking himself over, looking for any signs of what the scientists might have done, but couldn’t find anything in particular. “Weird…”
Adison shrugged it off, happy enough to be home. With his thoughts off of the Keepers, a more pungent smell began to break through the fog of lab-smell and reach his heightened sense of smell. “…Fulsi?” Those keepers allllways had to make things hard for him, didn’t they? This was the second time that they’d dumped him in Fulsi territory, but at least he was in better shape this time. Adison shuddered, recalling the last time he’d been here… Seraphim had just finished beating the snot out of him in the labs, and then had his lackeys dump Adi in the middle of Fulsi territory. Needless to say, that had been a dreadfully long walk home. The Carna groaned, hauling his tired body upright. “Better get walking,” He sighed, pausing only to stretch before heading on his way.
As he started out for the Carna, Adison began to notice how empty the Fulsi seemed. It was nothing like the crowded, bustling life of the Carna Ring. This place seemed so lonely. Perhaps it was because there was just so much territory to spread out on, but he didn’t see any Fulsi around. He tried his best to scent them, but could barely smell anything past the thick haze of the lab-scent. For once, his super-heightened smelling was working against him! Adison shook his head to try and clear it, but he knew he wouldn’t be free of the chemical odor until he took a few dips in the bay at least, followed up by some good old-fashioned dirt-rolling.
The long road through the Fulsi had become eerily quiet as Adison finally neared the city limits. He was only a mile or so away from the border, but something seemed wrong. Before he knew it, he was surrounded by a ring of six Fulsi scouts, all with stupid, cocky grins on their faces. So, they thought they were a big deal for ambushing a Carna? Well, Adison wasn’t going to go quietly, that was for sure. He cursed himself for allowing them to get away with the ambush in the first place, but the sense that Adi had grown used to relying on was essentially disabled. “You wanna start something, Fulsi?” He asked, voice rippling with a growl.
One of the more eager scouts lunged at him with a blade, and Adison quickly dodged his attack, turning on a dime to face the scout with a combat knife of his own. “Looks like the Carna aren’t the only ones that fight dirty!” Adison gasped, as another Scout tackled him to the ground. In a matter of moments, the group was on top of him like a pack of ravenous wolves, waiting to rip apart their downed prey. The usually-fearless Adison let out a cry as they unleashed a barrage of ruthless blows on his already-aching body, and he suddenly wondered if he’d ever be able to see his baby girl again.
ooc: DURP LION KING TITLE CAUSE IM NOT CREATIVEE. XD
It had seemed like a normal day for the new Alpha, when Adam had first awoken. No sign of Ven, no sign of trouble, and really nothing to do but plot and plan. After the first few hours of inventing new codes and testing the theory of invisible, though utterly disgusting ink, Adam was quite fed up with said paperwork. Keeping up with his six different codes and five different fake reports, with the sixth and correct code written in the supposed invisible ink on the back of one of the fakes, was quite a difficult undertaking. It did work in favor for confusing any spies however, especially once he scattered the papers throughout his various and ever changing offices. The scouts guarding the stairwells gave him a few odd looks as he slipped from door to door but he shook off their confusion with a cheery smile and a wave. Adam had faith they wouldn’t question his methods too deeply, he had in fact chosen them for their unusual loyalty among a Ring of traitors and ambitious intellects. In fact Adam had long considering promoting Casey to the ranks of the Scouts that guarded the upper floor, but at the same time he wondered if the wolf shifter would be willing to trade his freedom for a lax job and slightly better rations.
Blue eyes bored and lazily scanning the scattered groups of Fulsi, Adam debated whether he wanted to check on the jail today or leave that to Risk. While helping his jail staff rough up unruly persons was always a fun way to pass a few hours, he didn’t really feel like ruining a good shirt. It was still that annoying pink tank top and while it served its purpose well, the red would show up and stain the pink an even uglier color. At the thought of looking even more ridiculous, Adam drew the ends of his parka closer enjoying the calming phantom noise of ocean waves that the feel of fabric against his skin brought. His temporary peace was soon ruined however, when a scout came dashing towards him, eyes widened in clear alarm.
It was pure luck that allowed Adam to avoid slamming into the panicked scout and gripping the frightened boy tightly by the shoulder, he gave the scout a little shake. “Calm down. I’m sure whatever you need to say can’t be that bad.” While his eye contact was firm and his voice steady, Adam wasn’t so sure about that. There could be a raid going on after all, though Adam was certain his scouts would be setting off more alarms if that was the truth. “Sir! It is! There’s a bloody Carna in the middle of Gospel Complex!” That was all the excuse Adam need to briefly scan the Scout’s mind for the details and dash off, leaving the poor man flailing and shouting behind him.
Dashing back towards the Gopsel Complex, it was hard to miss the commotion. A group of his men were ganging up on some lone Carna. It took Adam a minute of watching this to realize who said Carna was. Then a slow smirk graced his features. He now had the Carna Head of Border Patrol in his hands, not to mention their Alpha’s son. Walking closer to the fray, he stood before the mass of tangled limbs and weapons. “Remove yourselves from our guest.” With a slow smile, he dared the scouts to disobey. They didn’t, hastily backing away from the Carna. “Now, now, is this anyway to treat a visitor? He might not come back to see us again and all because of your bad behavior.” It was hard to contain the sneer in his voice or the mocking laughter that threatened to bubble up. He wasn’t intending to let the young man leave either but yet he still extended a hand to the man, ready to spit vemon into those pretty little eyes if the man dared try anything. “It’s nice to meet you, Adison Sotero but I’m afraid this visit may be your last.” Adam’s smile was all teeth and the picture of politeness, as he fingered the knife in his jacket pocket.
Adison struggled to fight back, but the mass of Fulsi held him down and pummeled him mercilessly, punching and kicking at his face and body. Just when Adison thought he couldn’t take any more, the beating suddenly stopped altogether. The Fulsi all backed away and Adison sat up, his whole body aching. He could feel the bruises forming across his chest, ribs, and stomach, and he had a sinking feeling that his lip was swollen. He lifted the back of his hand and wiped at it, finding that blood was leaking from a deep cut that had been split open by one of the scouts’ punches. He sighed, spitting a mouthful of bloody spittle out onto the pavement. Did I ever mention how much I hate Fulsi?
When he finally looked up, a familiar figure was standing there. Adison let out a soft growl as he recalled that Adam was the Fulsi Head of Border patrol, at least until his promotion to Alpha. He scoffed lightly, wondering why the Fulsi would pick him to be their leader when Legend, who had been more physically intimidating, couldn’t even stand a chance against the Carna. Well, Adison thought, it was their own graves they were digging. He had seen Adam plenty of times while on patrol, though Adison had never said anything to him before, only exchanged a cold glare as he passed with his scouts on the Carna side of the border
“I don’t need your help, Fulsi!” He hissed, roughly slapping Adam’s hand away when he offered it. He refused to take any sort of assistance from the Fulsi, especially when the guy had such a cocky grin on his face. No, he wasn’t going to do Adam any favors. Adison hauled himself to his feet instead, his body still screaming; he ignored it, lest Adam notice his weakness and look even smugger. All Adi wanted to do was to get back to the Carna. He needed to check in after being gone for a few days, but Adison was pretty sure Adam didn’t care about that. Adi knew he wasn’t going to let him walk away without a fight, no matter what he told him. Reagan’s face flashed in his mind again, and Adison had to hold back the wave of emotion that flooded him; He needed to be there for her, and this Fulsi wasn’t going to get in his way.
As Adam threatened him, though, Adison couldn’t help but laugh. “Oh, really?” He chuckled, tightening his grip on the handle of his knife. “If you wanna play, Fulsi, just come out and say it, then!”
[/b] All these Fulsi acted so smooth and used their little mind games to belittle people, but Adison was used to getting right to the point. Without waiting to hear what Adam had to say, Adison aimed a fierce kick at the other man’s knee, and swung his knife at the Fulsi’s face. He didn’t trust the Fulsi to fight fair, and he definitely wouldn’t either. His mission was to get home, and if he had to fillet the Fulsi Alpha to do it, he would.
Adam noticed the man's bleeding lip and for a moment only one phrase remained in his head. Kiss it better. So with a small gleam, Adam grabbed ahold of the back of Addison's head and drew the Carna Head of Patrol into a long kiss. "Now we fight~"
