Evening - 73°F
The Russian shepherd dog trotted through the luscious forest, nose up taking in the odorous air. Smells of retro felines stank up the air covering the slight and fresh scents of prey. This must be their territory..They won’t mind if I take just one little squirrel. The dog sat, itching at her cream and black colored fur. She was considering giving up the hunt and moving on but her stomach protested. She hadn’t eaten for quite a few days. The last thing the dog ate was leftovers from a rat that she found in the forests. The Russian dog was a rogue shifter named Valeriya Kazekova. Valeriya had been living n the Menagerie for only a few weeks now. She was on her second week so far, as far as Val could remember. Time seemed to slip away from her mind as she stayed in her dog form more. Val chose being a dog because hunting was a lot easier that way, and she hadn’t found a suitable shelter yet. That and shifting was becoming more and more physically exhausting for Valeriya. A small drop of blood fell onto the green grass below her ash paws from her ashy colored ears; another problem with shifting. Back when Val was in the labs, when she was referred to as Rusky, she was injected with odd chemicals and serums that made her shift against her will. The side effects were aggravating and painful. Rusky had to deal with extreme pain in her bones and muscles and brain inflammation that caused her to bleed out of her ears. All in all it made shifting unpleasant, and Val found the longer she was in one form the less painful the transformation would be. That and becoming a dog was a lot easier than a human even though she originally was born in human form. Valeriya yawned, pulling her aching body up. She had been wandering the forests the past few days looking for somewhere to stay, and someone to be with. Now she was becoming weak and needed food. Thankfully, a small squirrel was hungry too. It sat foraging in the grass ahead of Val. Valeriya dropped into a hunting stance, watching the small mammal intently. Her mouth was salivating at the thought of a delicious warm fresh meal. Unfortunately Valeriya’s hunger dominated her rational thinking and she leapt too far from the squirrel and scared it off. Great now what the hell am I supposed to eat?! Defeated, Valeriya laid down in the grass relaxing as her stomach grumbled at her for the failure.

Sitting atop a tree, full of foliage and smelling like spring in the air, a pale blue figure seemed at peace. Since her first days here, things had seemed confusing and unwelcoming, yet after meeting a prince in disguise, a more calm atmosphere was starting to come over her. In addition, she was even starting to recognize places in the menagerie, know where to go and where to avoid. However, she was no expert of the place yet, but it would come the more she explored and familiarized herself. With a light sigh escaping her mouth, she gazed down from the trees only to see a canine. If there was one place the anthro was familiarized with, it was the huntingrounds and the fact that a canine was odd to see in a analoya invested area. Curious none the less, stormy blue eyes flickered to a bright green, indicating amusement. The canine seemed at a crossroads, either find food or be hungry. Leaning forward in the tree, the anthro observed as the canine let her stomach get the better of her and miss as a result. With a smile crossing the girls face, she let out a light laugh before quickly covering her mouth. "Hey stupid, remember you are hiding!" Her mind chimed and the anthro quickly disappeared, the only thing remaining being her floating clothes. Lowering herself to a lower tree branch, yet still high enough so the canine would be unable to reach her, the anthro slowly allowed herself to be shown, pale blue skin and all. "Isn't the point of hunting for food to actually catch it?" She questioned, bright green eyes filled with amusement. Anna was no expert when it came to hunting, but it seemed like a sad show to watch such a tiny mammal escape so easily. Letting out an innocent laugh, her eyes returned to the creature. "The name is Anna, and might I state, you aren't very smart being here.". She was one to speak, knowing full well that an anthro should not be there either, but she shrugged it off. The chances of any of the analoya members catching her was faint, after all, she was an expert at camouflage. WORDS three six nine. TAGGED miss valeriya. Sniff. Sniff. Pause. Continue. That had been the pattern that the little fox had been taking for over an hour. Hir stomach rumbled painfully. When had been the last time ze'd eaten? Days? Weeks? Ze was growing ungodly thin. Hir fur no longer felt soft and fluffy. Now it hung in matted clumps. Alex didn't even know where ze was. Ze was so lost. Alex still wasn't used to hir fox form. It was weird to hir. Four paws, ears that captured every sound? It was terrifying. Not to mention the point that ze was about a foot off the ground, and even a strong wind could knock hir over. Alex was used to being short, but not this short. It wasn't easy to sort out smells in this area either. Too many animals. What could a fox hir size take down anyway? A field mouse? The last thing ze recalled eating was scraps of a dead pigeon. It was one of the most unpleasant tastes ze had ever encountered. But it filled hir stomach at least a bit. Frowning, Alex stumbled to a stop, sitting on hir haunches in a pile of soft moss. For once, ze actually took a good look around. A forest. A gorgeous one at that. Light spotted the ground as it shone through the leaves high above. It was one of the most green forests Alex had ever seen.
So why the hell couldn't ze find any food!?
Hir large ears perked up, catching the loud, bustling noise of movement up ahead. Too heavy to be anything ze could take down. Alex dropped into a crouch, sneaking a peek over an uprooted tree limb. Ze was easily hidden, and it gave hir a great view of the trouble up ahead. The only visible creature was a dog. Tan and black, much MUCH larger than Alex, but it seemed to be hunting. Lucky bitch... Alex thought. A voice was saying something from the tree cover, but ze couldn't see what it was.

Evening - 73°F
Valeriya shook her head, as if shooing an invisible bug on her nose. She sat up, yawning. Even for a stupid failure it is a nice day out…
[/i] A quiet laugh broke Val’s train of thought. The dog jumped, snarling. She shifted involuntarily, the quick flash of panic in her mind making her gasp in shock as pain racked through her body. Shifting was always harder from dog to human for the Rusky. The pain came in separate stages, depending on each other to over stimulate the pain receptors in the shifter’s brain. The first and fastest thing to shift in Valeriya’s body was her bones. The bones would shrink and grow fairly quickly, stretching the muscles beyond their capacity. Her muscles would always cramp and lock with the strenuous effort of the shift. Her muscles cramped from lack of blood, for her vessels were the slowest to change. This was to ensure the chemicals the keepers injected her with would be able to course through her whole body fully. The lack of blood was caused by the vessels being either too small for her human body or too big, so the wrong amount of blood would go in the wrong place. The muscles contracting into cramps didn’t help blood flow either. Then the final problem with shifting would come. With her bones and muscles shifting her blood vessels would cause pressure on her brain. When the shifting process ended the pressure would have to be relieved some way that would be bleeding out of her ears. Groaning, hand on her stomach, Valeriya stood up with pain shimmering in her dusty blue eyes. ‘I am well aware of that, but my stomach can overpower my mind at times.’ She dusted off some shed-fur from her black hoodie and looked around. Her sense of smell wasn’t nearly as good as it was when Rusky was a dog, but she could still recognize smells of other canines. ‘I would say nice to meet you Anna, but I’m afraid I can’t see you.’ ‘I’m Valeriya Kazekova,’ she paused, the somewhat familiar scent of a canine catching her attention. In shiftertounge she enquired, ‘And you?’ [/blockquote][/color]

"I would say nice to meet you Anna, but I’m afraid I can’t see you." The words drifted to Anna and she let out an easy laugh. Her eyes flashed a dark pink to show her moment of embarrassment, before turning to her bright green, indicating she was happy. Lowering herself to a branch one lower, yet still high enough from the ground that she girl would have difficulty reaching her, Anna dropped her camouflage showing the pale blue figure before the other girl. She sat easily on the tree branch, nodding her had as the girl revealed her name. "Valeriya." She thought to herself, it was unique, interesting, nothing like Anna. Noticing Valeriya pausing, Anna paused as well, taking a moment to notice the smell. From her height, she gazed down to notice a faint yellow white figure in a bush. Titling her head, she gazed back to Valeriya. "It looks like a large rat." Anna stated simply. Taking another glance, she smiled. "Or a very small canine." She added, a simple laugh following it. Back to the topic on hand, Anna observed Valeriya for a moment. "I shall repeat myself, you are not smart being here." She spoke calmly, her voice an even tone, non-threating. Knowing how Joseph acted when people intruded on his rings' territory, she assumed the analoya tribe would be no different. Then again, being an Anthro, Anna had not heard much about the Retros, expect the fact they hated her, despite even knowing her. "Seems like a lot of people are like that toward Anthros." She thought, before pushing it away. No point in bringing down her mood. Pulling her attention back to the tiny figure hiding, Anna sighed. She was not going to hurt it, though she was not certain of Valeriya. "You might want to come out, we seem to be having a good old fashion meeting anyway." She spoke loud enough, hoping it would at least introduce itself. It could easily be just a critter, or if they were lucky, a shifter. WORDS three four three. TAGGED miss valeriya.
