Bah, come on there must be something...It's not like you really NEED anything like that to survive around here... Isa continued to shuffle through the mess of shattered glass and random rubbish. The small girl was standing inside of a somewhat intact shopping cart and searching the shelves and piles of junk inside the various little shops for interesting items to add to her collection. So far she'd managed to dig a funny looking bead out of a shelf and detach a loose elevator button from its place. Right now she could swear the hunters had it easier when they had to find supplies.
Pouting, she kicked herself and her rusty, rattling mount off to a new spot. Her trench coat was hanging from the handle of the cart, its edge slightly brushing against the dusty floor. She'd given up attempting to adjust it about an hour ago. It was going to get dirty anyway. Her fingers pushed a few empty cans away half-heartedly, but suddenly her attention was drawn by a noise coming not too far from her. She turned, tilting her head curiously. Another Shifter...? She lowered herself inside the cart, peeking out from above the handle. She really wasn't hidden at all and the loud rattle she created when she ducked had a chance in not being heard only if the other person was completely deaf, but she didn't really pay much attention to that. There was definitely a shadow moving around the corner and her eyes automatically locked onto it.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,430,true] | [atrb=background,http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i319/sketchedesigns/ROYCETABLEBG.png] Oh, to be one of the Keepers' lab rats. In any normal state of mind, something such as that would be a curse. But in a place like the Menagerie, having extra help from things like enhanced abilities was really a blessing. The sun hung at a lower place in the western part of the sky as the barn owl flew through the skies, cutting the thicker spring air at speeds he had never gone. The newest ability that the Keepers had granted him: speed. Something that he had never had. He was always lanky, clumsy, awkward in his human form, his enhanced agility only helping a little. But now, now he could actually be graceful. He could run faster than the average person, and maneuver around things at speeds that humans shouldn't be able to reach.
But when he was in his barn owl shift, that was the greatest. The speeds that he could slice the air with were just breathtaking, even for the owl that was living it. He could get from one place to another in times that he could never reach before. And as the sun set, the Royce flew over the Fulsi territory, doing flips and spins and spirals and nosedives. Just because he could.
And even though owl eyes were made for air hitting them, they were not modified with the rest of him to keep up with that kind of speed. And with his enhanced vision ability, his eyes were already sensitive. Royce had managed to find the supplies to engineer some goggles that he could use while in his owl form. And owl with goggles wasn't an everyday sight, but Royce wasn't exactly your everyday person. Pitch black barn owl eyes looked down through sepia tinted glass to hold the Mana Springs Mall in his vision. Oh, the memories that came back to him from that place. The bird banked to spiral down to the large two-story building at high speed.
Okay, windows, windows. . . There were many windows in this place that were broken, and that the barn owl could easily fit through. Royce only had to circle about half the building before he entered one of them at a dangerous speed. He tucked his wings into his body and dove in, just to make sure he didn't catch one of his wings on the broken glass. He'd been there and done that. Still had scars from it. He sped down the hallway of the mall, not really sure that entering at such a speed had been a good idea. There wasn't enough room to stop. A twinge of panic shot through the Fulsi scout briefly.
Okay, Royce, think. Air resistance. he thought as he banked to head down the stairs in the middle of the mall and down to the first floor. At the beginning of the hallway, after turning down it, the owl turned its belly up to the direction it was going, flapping its wings out so that the air he had been slicing through hit the broad sides of his wings. The air hit him like a ton of bricks, and the owl lost the little altitude he had, losing his shift in the process. Damn shifts, such fickle things. Royce never had complete control over his.
Unfolding to a rather lanky, boy-ish man in midair, Royce fell onto the floor with an unnatural thump, on his side. He was surprised he didn't feel his ribs crack again. He slid on the floor, directly past the other shifter in a bin, who he did not notice. Finally sliding to a stop, Royce just lie there on his back, arms spread wide and button-down shirt dirty from dusting the floor with his side. His black scarf was nearly strangling him, and his red sunglasses fell back on top of his head. Well, that was going to hurt in the morning.

In a moment the shadow was revealed to belong to a barn owl that flew in at an unnatural speed and, shifting to a young man as it passed her, crashed into the floor with a rather loud and painful sounding thud. This caused the girl to yelp in surprise and almost knock herself down along with the shopping cart she was crouching in. She managed to keep her balance though and as soon as she did, she jumped out of the cart and quickly made her way to the boy. "Mio Dio! Are you alright?"
Innocenza knelt beside him and quickly examined his body. He didn't look like he had any broken bones, but she was hardly an expert. The scarf around his neck seemed a bit too tight so she hurried to loosen it. She then carefully lifted up the sunglasses and put them to the side so they didn't get in the way. Isa placed a hand on his cheek, patting it gently and attempting to make him look at her.
"Hey...Can you hear me?"
He didn't look unconscious, but he did hit himself pretty bad. She hoped he didn't need the help of a medic. She was fairly certain she didn't have the strength to drag him to one and she was reluctant to leave him here alone to call for help. She looked around for something soft to lay his head on, then quickly brought her coat from he shopping cart. "You nearly gave me a heart attack..." She muttered while folding it under the young man's head, hoping she was doing what was supposed to be done.
OOC: Gah, I feel guilty for giving you such a short post...I'll try to do better next time, promise!
