R I N G L E A D E R SALPHA ∙
I DO WHAT I WANT
BETA ∙ Makes decisions in Alpha's absence, oversees the day to day running of patrols and guard rotations.
DELTA ∙ Makes decisions in absence of both Alpha and Beta, oversees day to day running of food allocation, water collection, building projects, etc.
B A T T A L I O NLEAD HUNTER ∙ Organizes hunting patrols, guard duty.
HUNTERS ∙ Venture beyond the borders in search of food and other supplies, participate in raids, guard the Complex and other localized positions.
HEAD OF BORDER PATROL ∙ Organizes border patrols and reconnaissance expeditions.
SCOUTS ∙ Spy on other rings/groups, patrol the territory borders, provide auxiliary support and reconnaissance in raids, occasionally carry messages from the Alpha to other leaders in the dome.
Note that joint expeditions are common, with Scouts typically acting as outriders.
B A T T A L I O N . A I D ECHIEF MEDIC ∙ Oversees the medics, their training and supplies, and organizes their shifts. Frequently takes personal care of the more delicate cases. Will work with the Delta to ensure adequate supplies.
MEDICS ∙ Look after the physical well-being of the ring. Circumstance dictates that this usually entails trauma wounds, but they are equally prepared to deal with illness and other ailments. Specific protocols for infectious disease have been established after the introduction of Viruses to the dome.
C I T I Z E N SOMEGAS ∙ Ensure that the domestic aspect of ring life runs smoothly, and that the battalion is well prepared. Responsible for cooking, water collection, food storage, building defenses, laundry, making weapons, etc. They are the builders, the craftsmen, the engineers. They carry out tasks such as preparing the buildings for winter, making sure everyone has adequate clothes and blankets, cultivating home-grown food, making soap, and collecting firewood.
TENDERFOOTS ∙ Training via hands on experience. They do a full rotation through hunter, scout, medic, and omega. After being proficient in all four, they choose one in which to specialize. This is to ensure that should one faction be decimated by attack or sickness, the ring will not collapse. It usually takes about a year to complete this process.
WHELPS Assist the omegas. For the older whelps, this typically amounts to drudge work. Children are given more attention, and are instructed in the more complex tasks.
