REVAMPED AND RELAUNCHED! JOIN OUR FRESH START ON SEPTEMBER 3RD. BE A PART OF A GAME, OF A TOWN, FROM THE VERY BEGINNING AND BE A PART OF MAKING IT'S HISTORY!!
OUR TOWN: The town of Royal, Louisiana has very little in common with it's name. A small manufacturing and farming town it is not even found on many of the maps of the area. It is not the kind of place you plan a vacation to and even if you did find yourself there by some twist of fate there isn't much to keep you. The townspeople have been there for what feels like forever, most of the families working at Royal's manufacturing plant that specializes in making airplane parts. Others are farmers who have owned the land surrounding the small town for decades. It is the kind of place that still holds town hall meetings and the citizens still look forward to the annual fourth of July celebration that happens on the square every year.
Besides the manufacturing plant, the one 'claim to fame' Royal has is it is the Parish seat for the area (known as the County seat in other parts of the country). The Parish's courthouse is here and because of this Royal gets a decent amount of daytime foot traffic which helps out it's economy greatly. Of course once five o'clock rolls around, the courthouse closes, the out of towners go home, the streets of Royal once again take on that small town (ghost town in some cases) quality and the locals quite like it that way.
It is a place of hard working folk. It's a simpler life of what some people would say is a simpler time, but truth is even places like hidden away Royal still have their secrets. Some are buried deeper then others and some are just a matter of time before they come to the surface.
One of Royal's biggest secrets is the existence of the Kisatchie wolf pack. They have lived in Royal for generations now and thanks to their previous Ulfric, still live deep in the closet. They are the elephant in the room that everyone sees but no one wants to talk about, but when wolves have spouses, children, extended family, it is hard to keep even the best kept secret that way forever. They are a large part of the town though, many of their ranks working in the manufacturing plant. Now that the rest of the country have acknowledged the existence of supernatural creatures and the legalization of vampires, folk wonder if the small town will follow suit or if they will continue to pretend not to see what is right in front of their faces. Will Grey, the new Ulfric, change the minds of some very old fashioned ideals rooted as deep in the history of Royal as the trees in the National Forest or will the wolves be just another forgotten chapter in the history of a small, otherwise non-noteworthy town. Or will the town's mayor, who happens to have his own dark family secret, a daughter that is a wolf herself, make sure that his pleasant town isn't over run by "the monsters"?
While all of this is going on two vampires have opened a bed and breakfast on the outskirts of town, living right under the townfolks noses as the "eccentric gay couple." There are also rumors of a form of lycanthrope railroad using Royal as a stop over location for the past several generations. A new family from Russia could possibly fan the flames of these rumors, especially if anyone ever finds out their deeply hidden secret; the new local barkeeps are actually bears.
OUR CONCEPT: The basic concept of this game is to gather a small amount of writers with big ideas to help create the town of Royal. Through multiple characters, family connections, as well as the simple love of writing, Royal will grow and develop a life of it's own. Since it is a small town and since there are only a couple of races (currently) to play, the hope is that it will encourage writers to create families; siblings, cousins, parents, as well as lovers, friends, and enemies and to create them with other writers. The idea is to develop complex dynamics.
Though there is no required word count for posts, we hope to create an environment that encourages creativity and the desire to write small novels. We encourage every post to be at least three hundred words. The idea is not to compete with other rpg sites, but to give an additional place where a writer can test out new character concepts, play with powers, try out relationship dynamics and simply let their imagination run free. Some characters will be main characters, some may have more of a bit role and only come out from time to time. There are no rules for posting requirements beyond we ask that you keep communication open with your writing partners. Let us know your writing style, whether it's a daily poster or an every other week sort of thing just so that everyone has realistic expectations.
OUR REVAMP: As it sometimes happens in the world of rpgs we had a bit of a rough start our first go around. Instead of trying to play catch up and stick band-aids on things we have decided to start with a fresh slate. Old threads have been cleared out and we are going to launch as if a brand new site. It will allow us to bring the time current, allow the website to be updated, and give new players an opportunity to join in from the beginning and really put their own stamp on the world. The grand re-opening will be SEPTEMBER 3RD but between now and then we will be in cbox and updating the site as well as accepting character applications and plotting. Please come and join in the fun.
