[Witt "Rook" Carrow]

This was absolutely terrible, and Witt couldn’t think of another situation he had been in that had been more terrible than this. He had only been in this place about a week and a half, and his natural optimism had already drained to an all-time low. The poor rook shifter had found himself in the Fallen ring, as one of their lower ranked. Which was fine, except for the fact that they still seemed to look at him with disdain in their eyes. He could almost hear them thinking about how young and “vulnerable” he was. The Rook seemed to be just out of luck.

He didn’t understand it, though. They were all shifters, they were all in this freaky sort of prison that vague but terrifying government agencies had placed them in. Witt didn’t even understand what the rings were trying to do, but he understood that they were at conflict with each other. They were putting each other in danger, and Witt couldn’t fathom that.

The Rook was currently sitting in a relative corner of one of the wood shacks built around the derailed train that the Fallen called home, curled up in an out-of-place chair, with the small amount of food that he had been given by the shifter that was cooking tonight. He didn’t mind the food; they gave him a lot more than he had gotten some nights on the streets of London. But he was still all alone. He hated it. Witt had tried finding someone to talk to as soon as it was established that the Fallenring had taken him in, but everyone was so busy around here. He felt like a nuisance. Witt had a long history of experience with feeling like a nuisance, but he still didn’t appreciate it.

So he sat by himself, picking at his food like a bird, with his knees pressed up against his chest and his dread of being alone mounting as the sun set outside.

[Aiden Shaw]

There were worse duties than having to wash a whole lot of dirty dishes. Thankfully, Aiden had been given the night off, and therefore would be able to enjoy himself. Most of his time was spent helping out with the boring jobs around the Ring; it was the price he paid for simply being a lowly Omega. Despite that, at least he would always have a full belly. The Fallen were nice enough to allow he and his brother to join their ranks and for that he was thankful. Even if he was a low rank due to his inability to do anything except get into trouble, he still had a place within the Ring and that was truly all that mattered in the long run. The sun was beginning to fall from the sky, the moon already finding its place in the dark blue. Aiden had just finished his meagre bowl of whatever it was he had been fed; food in Fallen was usually just a stew of some kind. There was no such thing as spaghetti bolognaise anymore and Aiden would have killed for just one small piece of pasta. Placing his bowl onto the pile, he threw a quick smile in the direction of the omega that was on cleaning duty. “Have fun mate,” he joked, before walking hastily away in order to avoid being bullied into helping. As he began to walk back to his little room, Aiden spied a smaller boy off to one corner, clearly looking out of place. A frown creased his brow and the man began to slowly walk in the direction of the small wooden shack. The boy looked to be no older than about fifteen or so, and he was clearly unsettled. Aiden hadn’t seen him around before and so he assumed that the kid was either very new, or simply hadn’t made himself known to many in the Ring. This only caused Aiden to feel even sorrier for the poor boy. It would be hard to survive in the Menagerie at such a young age; Aiden was twenty-four and he barely survived without his brother. Surely this kid would need some kind of assistance. Aiden approached as quietly as he could, and he tried to look as innocent and kind as possible. Dragging over one of the nearby chairs, the shifter looked almost expectantly at the boy. “Lookin’ a little lonely here aren’t ya mate?” He questioned, his Australian drawl thickening his words. OOC: Bleh. This is probs not my best...

The Rook continued to pick at his food; he wasn’t even that hungry, to be honest. But he felt just terrible if he were to waste what was given to him. The stern words that his mother would have spouted at the thought of wasting food washed over him and made him shiver. But he couldn’t help if he just didn’t feel like eating… The internal conflict that warred in his head had him distracted from the fact that he was being approached, until the sound of a chair being pulled up beside him. The boy jumped, nearly spilling his half-eaten bowl on himself, but catching it in time to not let any escape.

Witt observed the man that had sat down next to him, as quickly as he possibly could; his avian gaze perceived in a second that this man was not a threat to him, that he was purposely trying not to look like a threat. Witt’s stance relaxed a bit as the other shifter spoke. Lonely, yes, that was the perfect description for what he was. He hated being alone, and every other thing that came with it. He hated having no one to talk to, he hated being ignored and being looked down on. But it seemed that this man wanted to talk to him, and after a few seconds of contemplation, Witt gave a small smile.

“You have no idea,” he responded with a slight laugh. His voice was pleasantly accented with his English heritage, and of a higher pitch because of his youth. Witt unfolded in his chair, showing that he was clearly more comfortable now that he had someone to talk to. “No one has talked to me the entire week or so that I’ve been here,” he said as if he couldn’t believe it was actually true. And then he looked away and shrugged slightly. “Save for the stray order here and there. Oh, and the demands to get out of their way.” The boy sighed, and his childish grey eyes landed on the man next to him. “I’m Witt, by the way,” he stated after a few seconds of silence. “Do you, er, want this?” He pushed the bowl in his hands toward the man, just in case he had found a way not to waste it.

[Aiden Shaw]

Smiling at the sound of the kid’s voice, Aiden was glad that the boy was talking. The older man had the tendency to approach the unapproachable and he was frequently sticking his foot in his mouth and saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. Thankfully, this kid seemed willing to humour him and Aiden was definitely happy with that. Other than his brother, he didn’t have many friends around the Ring. And now that Robin was a medic, he rarely had time for the younger Shaw boy. So instead Aiden was frequently left to his own devices. Of course most of the day was spent doing whatever everyone else told him to do. As an omega life was slightly more relaxed but also slightly more boring and disgusting. They had the worse jobs of the lot but Aiden was ready to throw in the towel. His brother liked it there and it had been a joint decision to join so he was going to back out. Fallen was their new home. “No one’s talked to ya? That’s a bit harsh.” Aiden’s Australian accent made the words drawled and quicker. Apparently Australians spoke very quickly, but he had never really noticed. However, he noticed the boy’s accent and it only made him smile more. The British had lovely accents, unlike his country accent that made him seem less than perfect. As the boy mentioned being ordered around Aiden openly laughed, shaking his head at the same time. “Yeah, they tend to do that a lot ‘round here mate.” Running a hand through his hair, Aiden continued to listen to the younger boy speak. It was strange, letting the kid do all of the talking. Aiden was also pretty restrained and forced himself to not interrupt as he usual did. This kid probably had a lot to get off his chest and so Aiden willed himself to sit still and listen. The silence hurt a little and Aiden found himself fiddling with the hem of his t-shirt. However, the boy broke the silence and Aiden looked up with a smile again. The smile simply grew into a wide grin as soon as food was mentioned. Aiden hastily took the bowl from Witt, his childish nature getting the better of him. “Thanks mate. I’m Aiden. Nice to meet ya.” Taking a few mouthfuls, Aiden was thankful for the extra meal. He always seemed to be hungry even after his share. Perhaps it was because he still seemed to be growing, despite being well over six feet tall already. And at twenty-four he certainly should have stopped his growing too. Feeling something brush against his leg, Aiden visibly jumped. However, at the sight of a small creature just at his feet, he managed to calm down. The little ferret looked up at him expectantly and the man let out a sigh. “Oh ya idiot. Don’t scare me like that.” Aiden bent slightly and picked up the creature, letting it perch on his lap. He then took a chunk of meat from his food and held it in front of the ferret’s mouth. The ferret happily took the meat and Aiden went back to feeding himself. After a few moments he then became aware of the boy again. Throwing an apologetic look at Witt, Aiden shrugged. “Ah sorry mate. This little guy is Zorro. Found him a couple weeks ago and he’s not left my side since.” He looked down at Zorro and laughed a little before placing the now empty bowl on the floor beside his chair. “Now, how’d’ya get in here anyway?” Being Aiden, he didn’t exactly see a problem with the intrusive question, and he didn’t go so far as to think that perhaps Witt would not want to answer. Despite his strangely lengthened attention span that night, the rest of his symptoms were quite present. Perhaps Aiden would never be free of his ADHD. Then again, it was that very disorder that led to much of the fun and adventure in his life. OOC: Hope this is okay. I totally forgot he had Zorro until now... First post with the little ferret guy.
