A loud ring which sounded quiet similarly like an alarm clock woke Delilah out of her deep slumber. As usual in the morning she would yawn, stretch, and then rub her eyes to greet the day. The couch she slept on was never the most comfortable in her room, but it was much better than the floor. Slowly getting herself up Delilah sat in bed for a few minutes not really paying attention to her surroundings. When she began to look around she gasped and used her right hand to cover her mouth out of shock. Metal in an abandoned train car was not expected to look great in general. For some reason the metal was nearly black with dried splattered blood stains all over the room from the ceiling, to the walls, and the floors. A metallic taste touched her pallete when her hand touched her mouth. Extending out her arms to look at her hands they were covered with blood as well as her arms and torso. Delilah patted her own body to check for injuries on herself which she could not find. Overwhelmed by everything the Fallen Medic began to shake uncontrollably. Using all the strength she had she forced herself out of bed. She gritted her teeth due to the unexpected cold metal touching her bare foot. Delilah wished she had Tina, her pitbull, to comfort her right now. A new boy had joined the Fallen ring so she had Tina stay with him to console him in his new surroundings. Everything started to become too much for her so she sprinted for the door. Before making it to the door she tripped over something and fell flat on the ground. Turning to see what she tripped on it appeared to be a man unconscious on the floor and not just any man. Someone her heart always truly yearned for that she had not seen in so long. Bonifacio. There he was. Quickly she got onto her knees while slightly hyperventilating and lifted Boni to have his head cradled into her left arm and held him up with the other under his back. Like in some crazy movie the moment she held him Bonifacio opened his eyes. Tears ran down her face with a small smile as she felt relieved that after all this time he was still alive! "Boni... you came back to me. Why have you been gone so long? How are you here?" He let out a long cough with a pained facial expression which she thought had to due with his burn scars. "Where... is... Ade... lina," he asked in such a soft tone that she almost didn't understand what he said. Delilah closed her eyes for a moment, took a deep breath and exhaled to calm herself down to find a way to answer him. When she opened her eyes again it was as if Boni was staring so deep into her soul that she couldn't lie to him. "Adelina... she ran away one night with a boy from the Carna. I tried so very, very hard to find her, but she hasn't returned to the Fallen since." In an instant Bonifacio looked extremely angry over her answer which was a terrifying facial expression she had never seen before. She hoped it was due to the fact Adelina ran away with a boy from the Carna. "I can't believe you would carelessly lose her like an object. She was my daughter! I trusted you with her," he aggressively yelled. Delilah every day since Adelina ran away she always thought about Adelina so the guilt she tried to suppress immediately came back to the surface. "I'm so sorry, Boni! I really, really tried for what seemed like months looking for her! Please, forgive me," she desperately pleaded. More tears ran down Delilah's face which she tried to hold back as much as possible since she felt herself becoming hysterical. She let down the man she loved down and when he finally came back this was the news she had to bring him which was so devastating for her to do. "Maybe this is why God made you infertile! Obviously you can't be trusted with a single child!" To be told such a thing stunned her and felt like a punch to the gut. "Wanna know the sad thing? You and the room are splattered with blood and seeing me here made you forget such a horrible thing! You're supposed to be a Medic!" Delilah felt herself shake harder as his words tore her down more and more. One of the only things that kept her going in this hell hole was praying Bonifacio would return to her. This was not how she expected it to go. "People here say you're a good Medic, but they're lying. If you were such a good Medic you would have saved my life. Not only did you kill me you killed Adelina, too. You should be ashamed." Delilah closed her eyes for a few seconds to try to respond with some composure, but when she opened her eyes Bonifacio wasn't there. Looking around the room of her train cart everything was back to the way it normally was without the black metal and blood everywhere. Just to make sure she looked at her hands. No blood. She wrapped her arms around herself and began to hysterically sob so loud it sounded as if she was screaming. Everything she feared came true in an instant. All the bottled up feelings she kept hidden away were placed right in front of her to deal with. For twenty minutes straight she continued to cry till she had no more tears left. To gain some control over herself again Delilah focused on her breathing to find a way to settle down. After another ten minutes Delilah finally calmed down enough to think again. Pushing herself off the ground she stood on her own two feet clenching her fists as a revelation came to her. Delilah knew exactly what she needed to do. "Screw the Fallen. Tired of this damn sand. I'm going to make things right. No matter what I am going to find Adelina." --------------------------------- Delilah Speaking Hallucinated Bonifacio Speaking |
