FEEL THE PULSE !
NAME ;; Sarafina Desoto
NICK-NAME ;; None that she likes, though Sara seems to be the most common.
AGE ;; Not specified.
PERSONALITY ;; Sarafina is absolutely obsessive, having a bit of the Keeper's personalities rub off on her. She loves and hates in extremes, being ridiculously passionate. She can certainly hold a grudge if she thinks it's appropriate, depending on what happens. Her greatest obsession is the Carna. Since her mother and father are often very busy, they have limited time for her, though she knows they love her very deeply. However, she's fallen into a odd mentality, and she'll go to any extent to bash herself if she can't figure out the phenomenon of the Carna. She's even experimented with drugs that aren't on the market yet, considering she's surrounded by labs. The Keepers figure she's just trying to figure out the latest generation like Daddy would. She's awefully polite, which is rather odd for a spoiled, only-child, and she's got a very sweet disposition. She never questions her father's experiments, because she's grown up watching them. She doesn't see what's so wrong about them at all, however she loves to hang out by the Wall, usually waiting for one boy she saw once before. Despite all this lovable cover-up, she's difficult to understand and very(though oddly) insecure. She's fascinated by dangerous things, just as her father is, and she'd love to experiment with anything that's strange and possibly threatening. She watches her father's focus on the Carna Master, Manic, and soon enough she finds herself focusing, looking at small details, strengths and weaknesses.
Clearly she's been a little twisted by her environment, but she's certainly healthier and better off than the experiments.
The only thing that could be added to this is that she's horribly clumsy.
HISTORY ;; Her mother was just as obsessed with the questioning of the shifters. She went to college for four years, transferred, and continued schooling and applying until she was accepted as a student of the Menagerie. Though the Menagerie isn't truly a school, she was allowed now to right her own notes and think of ideas until one of the Keepers was impressed. She'd watch them day by day, questioning and thinking. No one seemed to notice her and she was ok with that. She was an average sort of woman, with fair enough beauty but the most extravagant thing about her was her mind. She was quicker than anyone they'd ever seen, though sometimes people looked down on this and saw it as her being a sarcastic smart-ass. She learned to keep her mouth shut most of the time. She didn't want to get into any trouble, because it was her dream to be here. Not often enough, she'd get called up to speak with the Head Keeper, Seraphim. He seemed impressed by her discoveries, mostly her observations of each ring. She noticed small things that other people did not. After her first visit, she felt absolutely honored. Never did she think she'd get to meet a man of such power. He seemed equally honored, for whatever reason. She was called up more and more often, till she was doing less studying and more...talking. They'd go out for dinner, and spend alot of time outside of the Menagerie too. Once the other Keepers started to talk, they were easily silenced by Seraphim's sharp eye and the reminder that he had cameras set up everywhere. Not one word would be said against him.
The more fond they grew of eachother, the less they were apart. For some reason, he grew rather possessive. It was as though he thought she'd do something wrong, betray him or leave him. She didn't mind the extra attention but it was rather frightening at times. As soon as the subject of Anthros came up(a subject she was absolutely fascinated in!), he'd start yelling about how she could not study them and how it was too dangerous. It was odd, since shifters were generally more frightening than anthros. She didn't understand, but most of her concerns were wiped out by an even greater concern - one that she tried to hide. She had no idea what he would think. Instead of saying something, she simply watched him obsess over his work. She'd walk in the doorway sometimes and see an odd little anthro on the monitor, a pure white one - freakish and frightening in every manner. And still...she was so curious. She'd see this on his computer more frequently and wonder why this anthro should be more fascinating than any other anthropomorphic creature. She wanted greatly to learn about them, but again her concerns were drowned out every time she bent over a sink and started puking. He'd hold her up with one hand and pull her hair back with the other. The subject grew more pressing. They both knew what was going on, but neither wanted to talk about it. Eventually, the subject was unavoidable when she passed out one evening.
His concern was obvious. He'd hardly left her side, taking more and more time off work. "Why would you keep secrets from me?" He was very upset, though it seemed to be a deeper problem than what was really going on. He didn't want her to keep any secrets. "I was worried...I mean...This couldn't be..." She was cut off. "What I want? I couldn't be happier." He growled and she giggled. He realized what she'd laughed at and couldn't help but mood swing. They were both laughing, even crying, and then just hugging until they both fell asleep on the couch. They were going to have a baby.
Though they were both nervous, they were also excited. Shopping for the child seemed to be no problem, though they weren't sure exactly what gender the baby would be. They'd pick out neutral colors, like purple and yellow. Common precedure for a child. He seemed to be hoping for a boy and of course she hoped for a girl, and it was Jules who got her wishes granted. He was there while she gave birth, being important enough to take off more time at work and tell a few other more trusted Keepers to take over. He couldn't be more fascinated by the first cry they heard, and the face of the hairless, blue-eyed baby they held close. It was a phenomenon that was uncomparable to any shifter or anthro or virus. This was his daughter, their daughter. They'd done something right, and they'd done that successfully together. The bond was finally undeniable. Whatever doubts they had before vanished now.
And so little Sarafina grew, spoiled beyond her wishes. Every wish was their command, but it didn't go to her head. The only ripple in her perfect life was the day she saw little Adison through the Wall. Such a small kid. He was just like her, or like the children she saw at school. Why was he in there with the other animal creatures while she slept warm and cozy in her bed each night. It's bothered her every night up to now. She must find him. She will find him.
