The redhead couldn't believe this. She stood there in the darkness of her boxcar, the light of the morning just starting to filter in the rusty holes that dotted it. I'm not wearing this. She thought sullenly, picking up the magenta colored t-shirt. It wasn't the color she had something against, she rather liked shades of purple, but it was more what the shirt said. Her lips twisted into a scowl, looking at the big white lettering. I HEART MY BOY FRIEND. Lovely. She wadded the shirt in her hands, tossing it onto her bed as she turned to where her other clothes should have been. Should have been being the keywords. Some thief had taken her things in the middle of the night, leaving only the brightly colored bands on her wrist and the camouflage jacket. Which. Didn't. Make. Sense. If any of her clothes were valuable, it would have been that jacket. But they hadn't taken it, which made her think that someone was pulling a prank on her. And they'd been nice enough to leave her new things to wear. Some...pervert...had been in her room when she'd been sleeping!
Her grip tightened on her own upper arm, standing there in only the pants that had been dropped off. Pink really wasn't her color, she thought, looking at them again. But they were big enough that they actually hid her tail and didn't look...too obvious. It was surprising that she wasn't the least bit drunk, and she wasn't suffering from a hangover which was completely out of character for her. The car groaned as she shuffled over to the pile of mismatched blankets and sheets that she called her bed, picking up the purple shirt again. By gods, if she didn't have somewhere to be today. Angrily, she shoved the shirt over her head, looking down at the white lettering again. Everyone in the Fallen would be laughing their asses off at this, she bet. Especially Desidero Desoto. She made a point of avoiding him lately, evading him anytime she caught wind of him.
She snatched up the hat, cramming it down on her head, making her ears fold. It hurt, causing her to wince visibly, as she pushed it down until it sat correctly. She took it off, holding it in her hand and decided to put it back on when she got close to the Fulsi. There was an interesting rumor spreading, and Quinn had every intention to find out if it was true what they were saying about her friend Adam. Her fingers combed through the long mess that was her hair. The wild curls had lessened as her hair grew, the frizzy red color darkening under the sun. Her hair hung well beyond her shoulders, nearly to the middle of her back and she found herself…kind of liking the length. She’d be less likely to be recognized since she hadn’t been near Fulsi lands since her first weeks in the M. Quinn was certainly finding her own in the Menagerie, beginning to tread on water instead of drown in it. She was finding a balance to things, and though drinking was still a very large part of her life, she found that she was able to control herself a little better. Her hands felt along the box car’s door until her fingers curled around the edge as she pushed it open. The daylight was almost completely on the Fallen turf, by the time she quit arguing with herself over this shirt. It was obvious as hell she was up to something. Quinn never was sober, or up ‘early’. Early for her was mid-afternoon, not crack of dawn. She could lift someone else’s shirt later, maybe Adam had a spare he could loan her for a while. Maybe he’d take a trade…? Something…she’d figure out something. She stepped out into the chilly morning air, turning to push her door shut, and the creaking an ungodly sound for the time. Speech

Oh, this was so awesome. So unbelievably awesome! It seemed that Seraphim really was lookin out for him after all! Desidero grinned and tugged the brim of his new fedora low over his eyes, admiring it’s design in the cracked, crooked mirror hanging on the wall. Black with pinstripes, a snazzy white band and an awesome lookin’ graphic revolver in white on the side. He didn’t much like guns, but it added a pretty cool effect. And he had some pretty snazzy new threads - a black blazer with a white trim, a white graphic tee with a clever little saying, some new shows with black flames lickin’ up the side. Damn, he was lookin’ fine.
Letting out a contented whistle at his charming self, he crept back to the girl laying on the bed, eyes grazing over her body one last time. He pulled the thin blankets back over her so she wouldn’t get a chill and crept out of her box-car so she wouldn’t wake up and find him gone while he was still within shoe-throwing distance. He’d been hit with too many shoes, books and miscellaneous whatevers the women he slept with could hurl at him. Desidero had that same surge of pride that he got whenever he nailed some chick he hardly knew and had some place warm to sleep. He had a box-car of his own, of course, but he was forced to share it with four other smelly dudes. He much preferred the nice, clean cars of the ladies. Especially the ones with roommates he could get to join the party.
It didn’t take much convincing - for the women, the men in the Fallen were slim pickins, or so he’d heard. But he knew even without that he would still get some action! Oh, what wonders self confidence worked. He strolled along the tracks, cocky grin sprawled lazily on his face as he lit up a cigarette with his new lighter, aptly marked with “I ♥ NY.” Had to be from Pops. Had to be! Only he would think of something like that to send, ‘cos only he would know how much he truly missed his city, his borough. He took a long drag from his cigarette and kept walking, savoring it till the last cinder fell from the tip. He couldn’t let any bit of it go to waste- who the hell knew when he’d get another carton of cigs?
Sighing, he kicked at a few pebbles before he realized where he was headed. Damn, he’d walked right toward Quinn’s boxcar again. Ever since she’d dragged him there and nursed him back tot health after their first meeting, where that asshole of a Fulsi had laid into him for no gd’d reason., he couldn’t seem to stay away from her. Or even stop thinking on her. She was so damn pretty, in her own weird anthro way. Her face was framed by that fiery red hair, and that damn accent, and her damned fiery temper! It was a refreshing change to find such a woman capable of handling herself.
Speaking of, he crouched behind a car when he heard the slight crunch of pebble underfoot. He ducked just in time as Quinn slunk by, obviously headed somewhere secretive. Eyebrows raised, he tipped his upward and away from his eyes, thinking sweetly to himself, hate to see ya go, but looove to watch ya leave. He kept back the catcall whistle he wanted to throw at her, and suddenly got an idea. When he’d been in and out of consciousness in her car, he’d seen her writing in a journal. Quinn always denied that she felt anything except complete contempt toward him, but...perhaps in those pages he would find some proof contrarywise!
Scurrying along he snuck into her box-car and began rummaging carefully through her things, letting out a triumphant “Aha!” when he found the beat-up old book he was looking for, tucked somewhere safe. He held it aloft as if it were the Holy Grail before plopping himself down on her bed and flipping through the pages. “Ohhohoooh, Quinnybuns you’re in for it now!” Gold. Pure, pure gold!
She wasn't entirely sure what made her turn around, she hadn't fogotten anything...she was fairly certain of that. However, she was on her way back just barely having made it past the first outskirts. She heard the muffled sounds of movement as she approached her home, her eyebrows scrunching together as she flung the door open revealing Desidero Desoto on her bed, flipping through the pages of a familiar book. Her journal. Her face went blank for a moment, absolutely shocked that he was here and invading her privacy before it went absolutely livid. "HOW DARE YOU!!" Her voice raised to an octave that hadn't been heard in a long time. She stormed into the box car, like an avenging angel bent on teaching this disobedient puppy a lesson. Her eyes were trained on that book, determined to get it away from him before he found too much. She would give him one chance...one chance to give it back, no harm and no foul. "Give that to me. NOW.She wasn't satisfied with the lack of response within the three seconds of a heartbeat that she actually gave him. She sprang, her hat falling out of her hands as she reached for the well worn leather that contained all of her secrets. She knew that had been stupid, keeping something so personal in a place like this, yet Quinn felt like she was going stirr crazy and keeping her thoughts on paper took away some of that. She had a feeling that she would be hitting the bottle hard tonight, despite her earlier promises. She was clambering over him, stretching to reach the little book he held in his theifing little fingers.
